An absolute disaster for nature, climate and humanity - everything we depend on to survive, from food to water, requires a healthy natural world. In the UK nature is already at rock bottom, one of the worst in the world. This Government is doing the unthinkable and harming what little is left.

Yesterday an NGO boss told me that all funders now use "AI" to assess bids.

Later a community activist told me all the community funding these days is for people to learn to use "AI" (eg, to generate 'community visions')

& jeez what a waste of money & water to produce stuff no human will ever read

Labour have lost voters who care about nature to the Green Party - a majority of people in the UK care about restoring nature. It’s understandable as Labour lied about protecting nature up until the day before the election and have since thrown nature under the bus.

The UK government’s budget is simply managing decline.

The budget does little to improve living standards or facilitate sustained economic growth.

Can't grow economy by hiking taxes on low/middle income families.

Whatever happened to taxing the rich?

UK energy bill payers to hand £2bn a year in subsidies to EDF, owned by the French govt, for building two nuclear power stations.

That will come handy in keeping energy prices down in France, improving govt finances.

Migration policy is being driven by fear of Reform not by rational thought

'a fall in net migration of 300,000 a year would increase deficit by c. £20bn'

We will all feel poorer and Reform will just find another group to blame this on

Labour need to find the courage to take on the racist rhetoric

Today we’ll get latest net immigration figures - They’ll show immigration for work is plummeting.

Why is this not part of the discussion on Rachel Reeves balancing her books & stalled growth?

For every 100,000 drop in net immigration, the OBR adds £7bn to the deficit. #r4today

Lessons here for this side of the pond too
“The greatest risk won’t necessarily be the Republican Party, which has sold its soul to MAGA and Silicon Valley fascism. Instead, I think the greater danger is that tech fascism will also corrupt the (easily corruptible) Democratic Party.”
A former Palantir exec just published an extortion letter in the Washington Post: Democrats must fund tech oligarchs, abandon antitrust, and create 15 deregulated corporate zones—or “lose.”

When I challenged her, she blocked me.
