Good call! I've had three books published so far, each with a real human artist.

Mirrormaze: Gemma Martínez (of Spain, not sure about her socials)
Dreck: Cliff Jones Jr. @cliffjones.bsky.social (me)
Somniscope: Brent Houzenga @houzenga.bsky.social

#books #booksky #sf #sff #sffh #art #artists #noAI
The cover of Mirrormaze: A Dreampunk Anthology, edited by Cliff Jones Jr. An ambiguously gendered punk with rings of pink clouds around their head is hovering over a green labyrinth like a ghost. It says, "We find ourselves in a very strange place." The cover of Dreck, by Cliff Jones Jr. A dark blue/purple ant with glowing pink eyes stares at you from a green background with visible brush strokes. A quote from Jeff Noon reads: "A brilliant exploration of technology's strange new borderlands." The cover of Somniscope: A Dreampunk Convergence, edited by Cliff Jones Jr. An negative-image pink and yellow skull on a purplish background, looking like tie-dye.

The No Kings stuff is anti-monarchy, so I guess he's thinking of "Antimo."

Wow, she finally drew the line, eh? Her love of fascism wasn't quite strong enough to overpower her hatred of Arabs.

I’ll remind everyone that Turning point funded actual insurrectionist buses to the attack the capitol in DC on January 6.

He just said it. 100% unironically and unmistakably.

“We took the freedom of speech away.”

Oh no, Fox News' "credibility"! 🙄
ampshade.bsky.social
also the guy who says he killed Osama bin Laden. very illustrious career!
Fox News has faced ridicule online for repeatedly interviewing masked "guests" - supposedly a "former Antifa member," an "ex-gang member, and others - who all appear to have the same build, eyes, and voice, leading viewers to suspect it's the same man each time.
Internet sleuths recently compared screenshots and suggested the mystery guest resembles Robert J. O'Neill, the former Navy SEAL who claims to have fired the kill shot on Osama bin Laden.
O'Neill, who's been a frequent Fox News contributor and commentator for years, has a long history of appearances on the network. The recurring use of masked figures resembling him has sparked fresh criticism of Fox's credibility and its penchant for sensational, poorly vetted segments.

They've finally gone and said it. Trump's goons will execute without trial anyone who stands against fascism (who is anti-fascist, in other words: "antifa").

They can try, but we all know how this goes in the end. Humanity wins.

Stay punk, my friends. ✊

My gosh. After the US bombed multiple boats in the middle of the ocean, murdering people on grounds that they were allegedly "carrying drugs," the US Attorney General says "Just like we did with cartels, we're going to take the same approach, President Trump, with Antifa."

Holy crap. Trump will make the FCC crucify Jimmy Kimmel for this.

I just saw season 2 episode 6 of The Last of Us: "The Price."

It literally had me bawling. I think a lot of that is because I have two daughters and a dead dad.

This was a damn good epidode. So glad I decided to watch season 2 even though I wasn't particularly hyped for it.

Wow, what a year for a tour like this. Remember last year when flying on a plane was just... normal?

God, I'm sick of this regime.

It was a great read! Gave me a new appreciation for these Kubrick classics.

I would not have guessed an earthworm typically lives longer than a fox. 😳

On the subject of interesting overlaps, Philip K. Dick was 8 years old when The Hobbit was published.

By the time The Lord of the Rings was fully out in 1955, PKD's first published novel Solar Lottery was also coming out (after several earlier novels had been rejected).

This would have been 1997 or 1998 since I remember Peter Frampton was part of the group.

My first concert was at Astroworld in Houston seeing Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band! I still have the T-shirt.

It's so easy to step from each one of these stages to the next. We're in stage 3 in the US. I'm holding my portable telescreen right now.

Can you imagine a near future where your national ID is on your phone, which must be carried at all times? Seems pretty likely to me.
cliffjones.bsky.social
I feel like Orwell's idea of a government-issued "telescreen" that always watches you and can never be turned off is plausible, but it doesn't just happen one day from zero.

First, you have to sell the device as a luxury item, then make it cheap, then required for work, and then legally mandated.

Right?! Where are all the "Antifa members" breaking into federal buildings with weapons and zip ties?

Weird how an insurrection was "just free speech"
and now free speech is an "insurrection"

Frank Herbert's take on AI seems to have been similar to Philip K. Dick's: The authentic human is good; the reflex machine is evil.

"We must negate the machines-that-think. Humans must set their own guidelines. This is not something machines can do." 🖕🤖

If you make this choice, then you either know what these monsters are and are just as evil as them, or you are too ignorant to be taken seriously. I don't see a third possibility.

If an author or artist is friendly to generative AI at this stage of the game, then how can we ever trust them again?

No matter what they say, it may just be a chatbot.

The same goes for a political leader who's friendly to, say, Putin or Netanyahu.

You can never believe a word they say again.
cliffjones.bsky.social
It really looks like the @bsky.app community is hostile to the AI sloppifying of civilization.

Take note, corporations! There is a strong correlation between AI techbro garbage and fascism. Make your choice.
