It's Friday, and it's time for Team TBR's fifth and last SFINCS semi-finalist.

We want to thank all authors who entered their books in the competition. It's been a privilege reading your stories and picking the top five was no easy task.

This was a really hard choice, & there were several judge favourites that didn't make the cut, so if you're not moving forward, please take heart that it was a difficult call.

#WIPSnips The word for December 15 is BLANKET

Blankets are for keeping warm and sleeping, and Dorilian is asleep in this snip from THE RILL LORD. Those with him want him to catch that rest. And there's more afoot also.

A late-in-the-day #SFINCS review from me today... This time it's A Light for the Dead to Follow by Rebecca Crunden, a grim-cozy story with a sweet romance that pays homage to Tolkien.

It's book quote Wednesday, and the word is 'blue'.

Blue is an important colour in The Many Shades of Midnight. It's the colour of Isyrium, the mineral that underpins the whole economy of Ellasia and is used for everything from heating and lighting to jewellery and clothing dye.

#WIPSnips The word for December 10th is PIPE

Few "pipes" in THE RILL LORD, so I opted for "pipeline," which is kind of like a "pipe" but a line of them, right? In this snip Hans is talking with Dorilian about Aubrey, who he hasn't seen in several weeks.

Cities play a big role in the Triempery series, including in THE RILL LORD. One of three god-built Cities, Mormantalorus, is ruled by the villain Nammuor, a sorcerer. That city is home to dark magic and technology.
