What expectations are put on your characters?
In Serpentus, Owen is expected to defend the city of Stone Hill, even though he doesn't have much military support (and no magical help.) But he takes his duty to the crown seriously and does what he can, despite the odds.

I'm AJ. I write various fantasy books (mostly epic, some urban, some cozy) and occasionally sci-fi.
This month I'll be focusing mostly on Serpentus because
1) it's in #SPFBO (which officially starts today and
2) Serpentus will celebrate a birthday this month!
