Manifesting sales for October.
My books are an epic fantasy reimagining of Sleeping Beauty. What if Maleficent was Aurora's mother and what if she wasn't really evil?
The latest is Queen of Thorns.

www.amazon.com/dp/B08HLVPF7D
Book cover for Queen of Thorns by Joel C. Flanagan-Grannemann.
Across the top is a banner announcing "Book Five of Servants of the Moon and Sun" in a clean silvery white font.
Against a deep red background with ominous dark thorny trees and fog, an armored knight dressed all in black and wearing a silver helm and breastplate rides a black horse, which is also armored at the head and body. The knight holds a crossbow loaded with a bright silver bolt in his right hand. The book's title is placed under the mounted knight in large silver letters in a fantasy font with thorn serifs. The author's name is centered below that over two lines in a smaller clean silvery white font.

A cartoon raccoon looks out from behind the cover and pink Raccoon footprints circle the cover.

𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐭’𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐧 × 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐚 𝐘𝐮𝐤𝐢𝐨

Aesthetic cruelty turns darkly academic in this twisted tale set in a secluded estate. A wife hires a caregiver to “care” for her husband—to make him “happy”—using her withdrawn academic paper on power. It’s love curated into madness.

What a good question!

I'm very much a plot-forward writer on first draft. I find my characters kind of take care of themselves, whether their arc has to do with dealing with guilt or trying too hard or...

So the characters usually come after the plot for me, but it's worked out so far!

Want a fun writing exercise to see how your characters react? Take one important plot line that you know is "set in stone", and flip it upside down. How do your characters react now? Are they the same as they were before? Has this changed their personality of demeanor in anyway? #AmWriting

And yet here we all are, writing fun, interesting, and border pushing fantasy.
Sigh.

I don't really know. Giant eagles are cool. Bigfoot always scared me as a child. In some circles, they are considered supernatural.

Images of the covers for two books:

A MEMORY OF BLOOD AND MAGIC:
Two people riding mules at the edge of a cliff in the foreground, facing away into the distance. One is pointing across a densely forested valley to distant cliffs where a ruined tower rises against a blue and pink sky.
The title of the book fills the cover in a smooth gradient from purple to blood red, with circular tracery extending from the letters serifs and ascenders to form a web of intersecting paths.

A MEMORY OF WAR AND SOLACE:
Two people riding at the top of a hill in the foreground, facing away into the distance. One rides a gray mule, the other a horse. Down rolling hills to a distant valley, a dark fortification stands, surrounded by the campfires and purple and orange banners of an army in black. The sun is setting in the distance.

Board games in your book's world

I don't mention any board games in An Ominous Book. Spaulding doesn't seem interested in them. Hama much less.

My haptics book has a popular game called Coris that is touted to be unpredictable and aggravating.

#PlotTober 9
The thing about Tynan being born at the start of the book is that they have *zero* personality to start with. 😂 The most I can say they have is a default "desire to perform tasks in hope they will understand why it's good later"

It'll be fun to show them growing to love their family.
