Because of this, if your passport or travel docs list "X" as your sex, you might get flagged or denied boarding for both domestic and international travel.

With the government shutdown, you can’t update or reissue your passport to switch to M or F even temporarily - processing is paused.

CBP has started enforcing binary gender codes (M/F only) in travel systems, meaning the "X" gender marker on U.S. passports is not being accepted right now in flight data transmissions.
