LLMs work by running statistics on existing data. So, like, if EVERYONE stops researching & innovating, instead just using AI, then that's it: the end of progress by definition, since we'll just be recycling existing data and feeding it back into the models. That's depressing.

My students are shown regularly how badly AI answers questions that they know the answers to.

The problem is, if you’re ignorant, you don’t know that it’s wrong. (But it sounds like what they think an educated person sounds like.)

Ghibli is about painstaking craftsmanship. Of animators, actors and more spending *years* to create something that moves you across the spectrum of human emotion

The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.

If not asking for tips, they just give compliments.

Last time I felt this experience was back in DeviantArt. Artists used to actively compliment each other or exchange art tips and such.

I just saw a comic made by ChatGPT, then they have a lot of responses, most of them ask for what prompt did they use. So they have this spirit to learn from each other 1/?

4 panel comic. In the first panel there is a bowl of salvaged eggs. I was texting my mom on what to do with the eggs. She suggested caramel pudding, omelette, scrambled eggs or french toast. In the 2nd panel, I decided on caramel pudding while beating the eggs, with milk and sugar. In the third panel I was making Caramel. In the fourth panel I whine about the microwave method didn't work and decided to steam the pudding batter. The whole process took 3 hours.
