Walz: "What's happening in MN defies belief. News reports simply don't do justice to the level of chaos & disruption & trauma the federal govt is raining down... This long ago stopped being a matter of immigration enforcement. Instead, it's a campaign of organized brutality against the people of MN"

Least surprising update ever. Glad SDCC got on the right side!
It looks like SDCC updated their terms on the art show! shaming works!

It's incredibly rare to see such a broad spectrum of the industry speak out against a particular move. This is one of those times....NO ONE in the comics creative community likes this policy.

The Comics Journal let me write about losing my right eye, my farewell to 3D comics.

Wrote about my old band The Stapler, Jack Kirby, @allredmd.bsky.social & more. Been reading TCJ since I was a kid so I’m honored to have them accept my work.

Thnks @pixellitpod.com for helping me find the title

I believe the technical term is a “bruise”?

My own history with Hiveworks was fraught with many of the same issues that webcomickers faced, as I explain in this article.

Absolute truth! His costume designs are timeless.
Dave Cockrum was with no hyperbole whatsoever one of the best character designers to ever work in superhero comics. His sense of style holds up today with many designs like Phoenix, Nightcrawler and Storm being all-time classics.

If America ever wakes up, someday we will look back on what is happening in Minneapolis as one of the greatest disasters in US history.
If local cops had any desire to show that maybe they care about their community even as just a single performative gesture they'd arrest these guys for assault.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.

Pretty good argument to be made that newspaper. Comix are the only thing that kept the industry live since they were the only Comix that children read for at least a decade.
not a millenial, but genx, and yes newspaper comics were huge for me. both collected and in the sunday washington post, which was my hometown newspaper.

bonus: there was a bloom county character named oliver, who is a black kid who wears glasses who likes computers. just saying.

The waste fraud and abuse is coming from inside the house.
A few months ago, ICE hired me

I didn't sign and submit any paperwork. I almost certainly failed the drug test. I'm real outspoken about my opposition to the Trump administration, and I am extremely googlable

And yet, there it was, in plain English. "Welcome to ICE!"

My latest for Slate
You’ve Heard About Who ICE Is Recruiting. The Truth Is Far Worse. I’m the Proof.
What happens when you do minimal screening before hiring agents, arming them, and sending them into the streets? We're all finding out.

The Hiveworks Artist Guild has released a public statement alleging years of labor abuses, financial mismanagement, and misconduct at Hiveworks at the hands of Xellette “Xel” Velamist and Isabelle “Isa” Melançon. Read their full statement at:

This didn’t work for Norman Peltz and Ike with Disney, and it will be a very long costly battle to take over the Warner Bros. board. But the Ellisons have an awful lot of money to spend on this.

Well, well, well. Comics continue to find new audiences!

Very curious to see what fueled the rise. Alas, we can't do our Bookscan analysis any more, so anyone who knows anything hit me up!
Graphic novel sales rose 9.2% in 2025: Although overall book sales were essentially flat in 2025, graphic novel sales rebounded with a 9.2% increase in sales
