What an interesting couple of days to follow the comics discourse on social media.

Lucky work has kept me too preoccupied to get the whole package.

Hey uh

Don’t care what the writer did to your fictional bestie

Death threats are insane and so are you.

Because the character is fake, the person is not.

Calm the fuck down, and move on.

Learn how to offer criticism like a fucking adult.

It's funny that DOFP was such a massively influential story that the mutant titles keep trying to recreate it and revisit it and do riffs on it 40+ years later and the original DOFP isn't even long enough to fill a trade paperback, or even count as the opening arc of a new title these days.
This is really the crux of the problem. Every time the x-men go back to the DoFP dark future well, all it really does is create a "hey, the x-men just kind of suck at what they're trying to do?" moment for me as a long time reader and fan

Mike W Barr wrote some of the great books of the 80s for DC, and it's a tragedy that he's now in ill health and needs assistance. You can show your love and respect for the man's work by clicking the link below

A surprising amount of them but only until you realize most are golden age characters.

Nebulon should have an asterisk as he was supposed to return in the defenders in the 2000s but the book never got around to it and nobody has picked up on that thread.

But the real question here is...

The last two weeks have been extremely busy at the comics store where I work as we had the release of the annual christmas albums and the attendant deluge of orders.

...okay I realize that nothing of what I said makes any sense to a non-Scandinavian reader so walk with me for a moment.

The phrase "beam me up, Chewie" is never spoken during the original Star Wars trilogy.
Lots of people think he said "We're gonna need a bigger Death Star," but he actually said "You're gonna need a bigger Death Star" ("you" meaning the Emperor)
At no point in Star Wars does Darth Vader ever actually say the words “Play it again, Sam”

I finally got around to read this and it is way, way better than it has any rights to be. There's the expected level of meta fuckery from Morrison but it's executed well and lovingly with even some good jokes about the typical Morrison comic experience. The back-ups were also great, if way too short

The movie starring Space Mutiny's own Reb Brown is spectacular and everyone should watch it at least once, but the comic itself is equally fascinating. Creator Juan Zanotto was also behind the sci-fi/fantasy exploitation epic "Falka" which is one hell of a ride (in both the good and bad way).
Yor the Hunter, originally published in Argentina in the 1970s as Henga el cazador, is to get an English language collection, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign by Antarctic Press

Louis Small passed away. We worked on Vampirella at the same time and talked on the phone, comparing notes.
Louis' work was far superior, better drawn, sexier, the stories deftly told. He should have been a star.
He is to me.
Rest in peace.

He does this a lot.

This wasn't what I intended to finish next but things don't always work out the way we want, do they.

Christopher Mills passed away on October 13. He was the visionary comic writer & publisher of ATOMIC PULP comics, whom I drew the cover of his updated oldie hero, BLACK OWL.
It re-ignited my love of the kind of comics I'd missed. Thanks for showing me that, Christopher.
You will be missed. 🕯🙏🏿
