Great thread on that incredible halftime show.
Disturbingly detailed analysis of my first rewatch incoming

Tuning into Olympics coverage takes me from “who is Hashimoto?” to, three minutes later: “wow, this really isn’t like Hashimoto.”

Why does it feel like everything that was once good and nice is being taken away, piece by piece?
The mass market paperback, light in the hand and on the wallet, once dominated airport bookstores and grocery media aisles. You may never buy a new one again.

Jakub Dobes may not make it look pretty, but he gets run support and hasn’t lost a game since the infamous one vs TB that prompted the Fowler call up on Dec 9th. I realize he hasn’t played a ton since then, but still very impressive.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

if I'm Joe Brady, I am absolutely trying to hire Sean McDermott as my DC. it's a good scheme fit with the players they have

It's wild that Sam Montembeault's excellent play cost the Canadiens a shot at drafting the likes of Celebrini, Bedard and countless others in years past. It's even more wild that now that they have a good enough team to win a round or two, he isn't good enough to hang onto a game they have in hand.

It's because he's small, you see. It's not in the rulebook, but it's a thing.
That cross check in the back? That's not a penalty? geesh

Glass half full perspective: The Canadiens are the youngest team in the NHL, and if they could get a save when they needed one they'd be a lot better than they currently are.

I thought the a Hab was gonna have to get murdered to get a PP here.

How about the nights Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson just had against USA GM Bill Guerin's team?

Cole Caufield scores to break a tie for the 13th time this season, more than any other player in the NHL. Money.

What an incredible game. I can't believe this is how it's gonna end after all that.

That 3 on 3 OT was the full Lane Hutson experience.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple fucking rocked. Absolutely adored this movie.

Pretty disheartening performance from the Canadiens, taking all factors into account.

You gotta take the schedule into account! 8 games in 13 days!

Youngest team in the league, went on the road against the team that knocked them out last year and earned a point. It's a choice of glass half full vs half empty.
Very frustrating the Habs have problems locking down a game with multiple goal lead
January 14, 2026 at 2:52 AM
Gotta feel for Montembeault. He was incredible as the Canadiens ran out of gas in the 3rd and OT. Nice point earned.
January 14, 2026 at 2:46 AM
First Habs OT in 9 days. I was starting to forget how this feels.
January 14, 2026 at 2:33 AM
I think the 3-goalie battle is over. Let's see Fowler and Montembeault duke it out for the top job and Jakub Dobes try to find his game in Laval.

Yeah the Chargers offensive line is in shambles and melted down when New England knew they had to pass, but you can't excuse how bad Herbert was independent of that. He was not good at any point in this game. Every playoff game has been a different type of disaster for him.
