Huh, maybe I am good at drawing.
I have strong opinions on mayonnaise. If you eat Hellman's, you're dead to me.

Time to eat your vegetables again y'all! What's a one-sentence elevator pitch for your book? If you need help, [thing] meets [thing] is a great baseline. #WritingPrompt

There isn't much that Enya does "for fun" these days, but when she was younger, she played baseball. She was really good at it too, to the point of drawing some jealousy.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Does your character do any physical activities for fun?

Maybe running, dance, gymnastics, or other sports?

How skilled are they?

Or is that sort of thing not something they can/wish to do?

This is one of my favorite passages I've ever written. Enya is a working single mother, and she is expected to help with emergencies. Sometimes that means broken promises to her 4 year old twin girls. It breaks her heart, but if she can't work, people die.

The Republic of Motornin is a capitalist country in a way that would be very familiar to us. That means who controls the resources is an increasingly small class of wealthy industrialists and investors who conduct their business with very little regulation and without regard for well being.
#SFFChat Q3: Who controls trade/resources in your world?
December 11, 2025 at 11:46 AM
#SFFChat
The chunes have a very sophisticated food culture. The Republic of Motornin is based on the US, so you have a lot of food production in places like the midwest, or the west coast, lots of cash crop production in the south, lots of beef in the west, etc. However-
#SFFChat Q2: What is food production like in your world? E.g. Are their valuable crops that are scarce, economies based on specific crops, staples that crop (hah!) up in the story a lot or that have cultural significance?

#SFFChat
Enya lives in the desert where water is scarce, and food is never in good supply. The local farmers raise some cattle and grow pinto beans, but everything else has to be imported. Between the rough terrain and the poverty, most things are pretty scarce.
#SFFChat Question 1: Does your world suffer from any resource scarcity? How does that impact the story (or the context of the story as part of the background)?
December 11, 2025 at 11:21 AM
#SFFChat hello yes I'm Cori and a writing resource I can't do without is autism
Good morning and good evening #SFFChat!

Introduce yourself and share a "writing resource" you can't do with out (notebooks, a specific writing program on the computer, music to inspire, a particular writing advice blog, an editor you love, etc, etc)!

#DecemberWorldbuilders
Now in the Kansa reboot, both Thales and Fiore are alive at the same time. I make it VERY clear that the two hate each other, largely over moral differences. Fiore is a narrow minded bigot who doesn't respect anyone. Thales is a man of respect, honor, and good judgement.
Good mornevening, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Tell me about your villain's relationship with their family. If you don't have a villain, pick another character who is either antagonistic or maybe just a foil for the MC. Does their villainy get in the way of having a family?

Anyway, got my record player set up finally!
December 11, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Having DID means the other guy who lives in my head has a record collection, but I am only just now getting the chance to look through it.

Oh, the mountain goats, that's great. Why is Kyle talking about someone named Sierra now though?

There's a shocking amount of overlap between people who want more things to be made in the USA, and people who are shocked and appalled at the idea of resuming mining operations in the UP. Like, do you want shit made here or don't you?

In Chune society, queerness is actually pretty common. Homosexuality is just kinda a thing you do sometimes, and gender queerness is just another kind of expression.

If anything, it's being straight that makes you the odd one out.
How are people of marginalized genders viewed in the setting for your book/wip? #WritingPrompt

Very much criminalized, you could go to jail for a very long time for it.

That doesn't prevent it from being common in Chunish culture anyway, they just have to find clever technicalities

It's not prostitution if she voluntarily has sex with you and you make an unrelated donation to the temple. :3
World Building Wednesday: In your OC's setting is sex work decriminalized, legalized, or criminalized. Does it vary from region to region, planet to planet, are there any notable laws?

I wish more people would get that. I didn't like Terry Pratchett's books, I didn't like Frankenstein. That doesn't mean I think they're bad, just not paced in a way that I like.
Fun fact

You can think something in a piece of media is bad or poorly handled, but still have it resonate with you. You can also dislike something but admit to the merit it holds. Objective quality has no dictation over one’s interest in things, and what matters most is simply doing what you love.

"Motornin isn't racist enough to be a real allegory for the United States" you know oomf maybe has a point.

When Enya was a kid, her favorite toy was the pitchfork she had to use to feed the animals on the farm where her and her father were employed as farm hands. :)

Ever get the urge to call in at work entirely because you don't feel like stopping in the middle of a drawing?

I don't know what a celcius is, but considering I've heard the brits complain a about like 20, I assume 30 is pretty damn hot
Apparently it's going to be 30 degrees Celcius today.

(That's Very Warm, for those using silly units)

So I'm putting the aircon on and going to bed :)

Be good, everyone <3
