Three days ago was the 3rd anniversary of our loss of Chloe. She was such a wonderful companion. We still miss her. Memories are strong & we draw upon what she taught us about life. Hug & pamper your fuzzy child today & everyday. Images (adoption; thinker; hiding in Texas bluebonnets; New Mexico)

The U.S. government is now inarguably spreading medical disinformation that is going to kill babies preferentially.

Period.

This is an INTOLERABLE. UNPRECEDENTED. DANGEROUS. ATTACK. ON ALL OF US.

We are educating future engineers & doing research that will better society & the planet, and also rocking out!

I am so proud that the @ucdavisengineering.bsky.social has its own rock band, the Technically Hip.

1/ H3N2 that’s circulated worldwide this year “acquired 7 new mutations over the summer,” Antonia Ho, of Scotland’s U of Glasgow, said.

That “means the virus is quite different to the H3N2 strain included in this year’s vaccine,” she said.

🔸️Early data suggests we could be in for a worse than normal flu season, brought on by a cluster of escape mutations in H3N2 this year that may lift the Re from 1.2 to 1.4. We are starting to see an uptick in the US. Data from BIOFIRE.

The wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald happened 50 years ago today.

Gordon Lightfoot memorialized the tragedy in a haunting song.

Bob Dylan once implied that Gordon Lightfoot was the greatest songwriter of all time. He was certainly one of the great ones.

Grew up a Dodger's fan & sustained my allegiance through the years out of memory of my father's love for the Brooklyn & later Los Angeles Dodgers. I also loved going to Blue Jays games in the early 1990s while living in ONT.

Blue Jays played like champs. Respect to both teams for a GREAT series.

It’s been obvious now for years for Covid-19, but this adds to the evidence for other viral infections.
A number of viral infections, including flu, Covid-19 and shingles, are linked to an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, a new study affirmed.

Defaulting to surgical masks in health care settings in 2025 is one of the most dissapointing examples of reluctance to change despite overwhelming evidence.

Even defaulting to KN95 style would significantly increase protection of the most vulnerable.

Infuriating inertia in the HC industry.
