✨️I'm Rook!✨️

30+ hobby artist, cosplayer & craft generalist. Neurodivergent, queer & chronically...something.

I dabble in a fair few fandoms and somehow always circle back to my own cast of OCs. Expect sporadic home decor updates of a vaguely whimsigoth variety.
Digital art: a flyer/poster/greeting card inspired artwork of a witch with a wavy blunt bob in bright orange and an elaborate burlesque outfit comprised of purple, fuchsia and orange layers with a lot of gold glitter. She is perched on a broom in a pin-up pose, knees up, one high heeled shoe kicked up skyward with a glittery jack-o-lantern treat bucket swinging on the heel. The background is a circle of dark blue night sky on parchment, framed by the words SEASON'S GREETINGS with "Season of the Witch!" Scrawled along the bottom. This is op's character Dakota, in his drag persona as the Maenad. Selfie: Rook as Percy Jackson, wearing a dark blue KN95 mask and standing in a tunnel with decorative waterfalls lit up blue. His hair is wild and wavy and black with a shock of silver white in the forelock. Mirror selfie: Rook as Vash the Stampede in a modern punk outfit, pulling from the 2023 Stampede design in hair and arm but wearing the iconic glasses from the original series. The outfit consists of a self-made red denim "battle jacket" vest, heavily ripped black jeans, a black fanmade Trigun tee with a graphic reminiscent of a punk or metal band tee, and those big goth boots with metal plates but the metal plates are heart shaped.

Are there any other artists lamenting the lack of outlandish and generous patrons?

The problem with having a crafting hobby is you will have THINGS.

Bits of things, big specialized things, tiny bags of hard to get things, drawers of tools just for the things, half-completed things, duplicates of things you ordered because you forgot you already had those things, SO MANY THINGS

Everyone on the fence about A.I., there's something you don't realize.

It's purpose is to eliminate human jobs and human skills.

That's it. That's its single purpose. For companies to no longer pay people or train them in skills.

“This two-handed soldier’s sword was huge and aberrant and frankly malicious, and utterly your responsibility.”
A drawing of Harrowhark Nonagesimus from The Locked Tomb series, dressed in hospital clothes while hugging a glowing two handed sword and crying, her gaze a little lost.

the fact that “having children” is the norm has caused a lot of harm. Not having children should be the norm, and then you only get them if you really want them

Cover for Celine Leonora's "A Lesson in Murder," published by Arena-Verlag. This was my first time working with a German publishing company and they were so polite, and efficient, and respectful 🥲 13/10 client.
Illustrated cover of a blonde girl in a plaid school uniform looking out from a gothic window surrounded by fall ivy foliage. Reflected in the squares of the window are two boys faces, one blonde, one black haired with glasses.

By "tricky and annoying" I mostly just mean it was low key neurodivergent sensory hell for me to do anything that involved moving my arms much

Anticipate not wanting to cook at all. Its gonna be really tricky and annoying to do anything if you've got drains. Portion any milk/juice out of the jug into smaller bottles before surgery bc a gallon jug is the typical limit of what youre allowed to lift. Frozen dinners may be your best friend

You can use silken tofu to basically make protein pudding if you mix it with the right stuff. Protein shakes (my brother and I drink premier protein, its not fantastic but its not bad. I like vanilla he likes choc). Tofu in general. Cheese curds. Nuts/nut bars
