In Super Mario Sunshine, Shadow Mario's voice is created by applying a filter to Mario's voice; however, he does not use all of Mario's voice clips. By making Mario himself use the filter, we can finally hear Shadow Mario say things like "MAMA hoohahoo wow wow" and "The horror".

back when I had twit I read someone's followers-only locked fic about sonic passing away and shadow believing in his heart of hearts that he will probably come back, somehow, and then after a long time Sonic just. shows up. in a field of sunflowers. I think it's the most Sonic thing he could do.

Shadow uses "boku" in Sonic games because one of his creators Maekawa envisioned him as a "delicate and pure" character. His "dangerous purity" has also been frequently brought up in stories and bios. Much to Sonic Team's credit, they've respected his creative decision long after he left Sega.

it's super awesome that they implemented that first design as an alt costume in Shadow Generations. truly incredible pull from series history. I used it once for one level and went "wow the final design is so much fucking cooler I'm never using this again"
