Wilfred is our porch skeleton. He hangs out on our porch Sept through Novemberish, and sometimes returns for other holidays. He’s been a buddy of both our kids since they were babies. Here he is riding our old Babboe cargo bike.

We’re spreading the word throughout #Halifax: We visited a rural part of our municipality in June and we’re working on suburban routes for our future rides. We’ve discovered that more of our community members are running #BikeBus and after-school cycling clubs at their local schools.

#KidicalMassHfx is about building a community around cycling for kids.

The number of folks who come to any particular ride is just one measure of our community, but there’s so much more we also see as growth in this movement.

A 🧵 of my reflections on #KidicalMassHfx.

In 2022 (our first season) our Dartmouth ride had ~12 participants.

In 2023 we had 76, and in 2024 we had 90.

Yesterday, 130 people rode bikes with us in Dartmouth, in support of our kids safety and independence in their communities.

Attention #BikeHfx: Chebucto Lane is currently closed due to work by Halifax Water. You can get as far as Duncan St southbound, or to the sidewalk on Lawrence St if you're northbound. But the roadway on Lawrence is a giant pit, currently full of excavators.
