And, I probably won't travel home this winter, because not only are the flight schedules atrocious, they cost an arm and a leg, even with family chipping in. I'm anticipating being in a foul mood this winter.

Nearly $60 more per pay period (semi-monthly) to cover my son and I under my job's health insurance plan. Private plan and my employer covers a TON of the plan. I didn't vote for this fuckery.

When, after a couple of weeks of back and forth, imaging, and confusion, the kindest (and most hilarious NP) tells you: not cancer! Phewwwww. The best part is sharing the news with the fam and work peeps who have been most understanding and kind.

Boltz v2.2.1 out. A few improvements including support for .pdb templates, better treatment of stereochemistry in guidance potentials, and improved documentation. As always a great thank you to all those in the community who contributed via PR, raising issues or directly reporting issues to us.

So the crazy thing here is the company this is supposed to be about is Corning. The company famous for its glass research. And the across the board metric is a measure of how similar individual atom positions are in their CRYSTAL structures. So much is nuts here, but that should have been a red flag

NSF budget would close down one of LIGO's sites. This would be, to put it lightly, a catastrophe for gravitational wave astronomy.

"In FY 2026 NSF will operate only one of the two sites
and will support a reduced level for technology development."

21yrs ago I survived, we all did. I still remember the sounds, the sights. Some years are harder than others, this one has been quite terrible. The PTSD is real, rearing its head. The nightmares aren't as common these days, thankfully. My seat was 5B, aisle. 5th window, starting from that gate/door.

Not long after I started my lab, a prominent scientist told me it was “impossible” to be a successful PI and a mother

Don’t ever let the naysayers tell you it can’t be done - of course it can!
