“If the DGA that came out had not been compromised at all, if it had pretty much followed scientifically sound recommendation and they’d shown their justification, then we would not have released [the #UncompromisedDGA]."
Nutrition experts warn that the new recommendations include contradictions and conflicts of interest, and that the guidelines may not prompt the shakeup the administration anticipates.
Public Health Groups Challenge Trump Administration Dietary Guidelines
Nutrition and public health experts worry that conflicting guidelines on saturated fat and protein may cause confusion.

Our partners at AND rightly point out the contradiction in the new Dietary Guidelines: "emphasis on butter, beef tallow, red meat and full fat dairy is inconsistent with the recommendation of limiting saturated fat to 10% of total calories."
📄 The Academy acknowledges the release of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2025–2030 (DGAs). While many recommendations align with longstanding nutrition science, other elements raise significant concerns.

RFK, Jr. and Sec. Rollins just released the 2025–2030 DGAs, but amid some positive advice is guidance that is confusing at best and harmful at worst.

We actually did the math, and if you tried to follow the new DGA recommended servings of different food groups you'd very likely end up eating as much as 3x more saturated fat than the guidelines recommend. How are consumers supposed to follow guidelines that contradict themselves?

This level of contradiction is unacceptable given the Secretaries had clear, transparent, evidence-based recommendations at their disposal. While the meat and dairy industries may be excited about the new food pyramid, the American public should not be.

The 2025-2026 Dietary Guidelines are set to release very soon (perhaps even tomorrow!) and they're critically important since they act as recommendations for how we should be eating to meet nutrient needs, promote health, and prevent chronic disease.

So what do we want to see in the new DGAs? 🧵

Some vaccines previously recommended for all children are now only recommended for high-risk groups, while others now require families to consult with a physician before vaccination.
This will create confusion and additional barriers to getting vaccines for families across the US!
