Saw the #Dodgers’ social video heralding the signing of Kyle Tucker. King Tuck played 633 games for the #Astros, 136 as a Cub. But all 22 shots of him in the 30-second video show him in a #Cubs uniform, none in Houston’s. You’d almost think L.A. has a reason to dislike the Astros. #mlb

I’m dying for #MLB players to report for spring training, partly because I’m sick of seeing every story about Kyle Tucker show him in a #Cubs uniform. In the meantime, just AI him into a Dodgers uni. As far as I can tell, redressing athletes into their new team colors is the best use of AI anyway.

Marquee won't exist in a few years.

And good riddance.

Hopefully Crane gets thrown out with the rest of it.
Expect to see fewer Cubs spring training games on Marquee this year.

President of business operations Crane Kenney told Tribune it’ll “probably” be less than double digits for 32-game spring slate and definitely fewer than past ST.

“A really hard decision.” www.chicagotribune.com/2026/01/17/c...

Alex Bregman, Chicago Cubs

I don't care what Bregman plays like 5 years from now.
Cubs roster is almost entirely in or about to exit their prime over the next 1-2 years, not to mention most of their contracts expire too.
Cubs need to make a push now. Getting Bregman helps accomplish that.
An impact pitcher at TDL will too.

Almost impossible that Bregman will be worth his salary late in this deal, but that’s how it goes with elite free agents. THRILLED to see the #Cubs put on their big-boy pants. #mlb #baseball

Starting pitchers with two pitch types with at least a 40% whiff rate each, 2025 (min 150 swings):

Edward Cabrera: curve 45.2%, slider 43.7%

That’s it.

Owen Caissie is No. 91 on the forthcoming BP 101 but in full disclosure I argued pretty strenuously to drop him entirely. He's a good prospect but this is very much a situation where his name value (between the system, Darvish trade, and hanging around t100s for so long) exceeds his current value

The orange felon will spend the holidays with corrupt billionaires and immoral loyalists friends at his crime hub Mar-a-Lago at taxpayer expense.

Ah, yes. It’s called “keeping our powder dry.” A Cubbie classic. Uttered every year. In fact, I’d be surprised if the #Cubs business guy hasn’t tried to trademark the phrase.
We’ve gone from “I will simply buy every good player because I am rich and that’s what I want to do” to “well you aren’t taking into account the cost of waiver wire moves and minor-league salaries.”

Story thread-
When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.
