I often think of the parasitic microorganism from mushi-shi that slows a person's subjective experience of time so that each day feels like a lifetime. But the people affected see so much beauty in every waking moment, it's miserable and overwhelming to return to normal life
What's your favourite monster/creature from literature? I'm thinking Tuunbaq from Dan Simmon's The Terror, the triffids from Wyndham's Day of the Triffids, the demon from M.R. James' Casting The Runes, Grendel, Pennywise, etc.

Trump's policies are inflicting so much harm even his allies can see it. Yet he's mostly doing exactly what he promised to. If they revolt over policy, they'll reveal they were fools to back him in the first place. They need a *moral* reason to abandon him. The Epstein files provide just that.

We should view animal consumption the way we view slavery, cannibalism, and child sacrifice

(Note: I do not do this, but I think the society that does is better)
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Wow Turner Classic Wovies crapped out a real stinker I see
This paragraph especially!

If I understand him right, he's saying "moral clarity it good" and the right has been utterly immoral so it might sound weird to criticize moral clarity. HOWEVER, because the left is bad [unspecified reasons], "moral clarity is an obstacle to insight." ???

this whole paragraph is an exercise in the pose of knowingness, and illustration of how making being "more reasonable than the extremists" the whole core of your intellect leads inexorably to believing in nothing at all

you could fact check this — there aren’t 30 million illegal immigrants and there is no evidence that the presence of an immigrant in say houston has any impact on housing in madison, wisconsin — or you could note straightforwardly that this is just nazi rhetoric
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Yeah illegal immigrants famously have a lot of money to buy up all the houses

(Again, the people who won WWII are the ones who changed the name)
Trump: "We have officially renamed the Dept of Defense back to the original name, Dept of War. And remember we won World War 1, we won World War 2, we won everything in between. We won everything that came before. And then we brilliantly decided to change the name. We became politically correct"

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.
