In my lifetime the GOP has:

Betrayed American hostages in Iran to win an election
Sold weapons to terrorists
Crashed the economy multiple times
Shut down the gov multiple times
Taken away women's right to bodily autonomy
Put children in debt for school lunches

And their voters did get over it

But tools didn't replace skill or taste.

Give me a workshop full of the best tools and I still won't turn out a quality chair. My grandad though could do beautiful woodwork with a pen knife.

The odds are that every artist you listen to uses it, but most of them use it well so you don't even notice

It's a tool, nothing more, nothing less. Good craftsmen can do more with their tools than poor ones.

Portland's war zone isn't even that hard to find, just take Powell across the river

The problem with this metaphor is that an artist might like an expensive pencil set if someone bought them one, even though they knew it wouldn't make them a better artist.

No artist would like it if someone bought them an AI

“Claim of an IED”
But apparently no one knows who claimed it, when or where.

IMO the “IED” lies are instigated from the top, to tie protestors in with the “terrorist” narrative he’s trying to push.

Hamilton pushes back and says "this is no Carrie Underwood song." He cites more serious incidents, including the claim of an IED.

Perry: "What was in that?"

Hamilton: "I don't know."

This is like thinking "an expensive pencil set will make me a better artist!"

It's a tool, yes, but it fundamentally misunderstands what makes good art

Oh ffs, they're not "vulnerable" to Trump any more than I'm "vulnerable" to tacos al pastor

Media loves Trump

We're a nation who delights in terrorizing innocent people

Anybody in this day and age who is "proud to be an American" is deeply sick and evil

I grew up with the only non-meat options being veggie burgers and mushroom burgers

I'm perfectly happy calling beyond meat patties "burgers." And they taste more like beef than anything McDonald's serves, no matter what they claim about their big macs

Has it been two weeks yet?

Or is the President still working on "concepts of a plan?"

I had to look him up. He's known for paranormal activity and the purge; I really don't care what he thinks about art, he's a tasteless clown

Someone said about books, "I can't be bothered to read something that nobody was bothered to write."

It equally applies to visual mediums.

Texas has always been like this. They're the last holdouts from the civil war, and they've held a grudge for 150 years.

We deserve Megamind, and instead got Tighten

Yes, they were

Some days I feel that Sherman went too easy on the South, but honestly it wouldn't have changed much today. Every generation has to learn the same lessons as those who came before, and this generation has simply failed the test

As I observed in my Substack Round Up this past week, the endgame of the military strikes against drug cartels in international waters is to lay the groundwork to use lethal military force against Americans at home. Pay attention open.substack.com/pub/asharang...

Creepy movie recommendations?

Not blood and guts, not body horror, just good, old fashioned, Hitchcockian dread?
