I am dead set on the future of self hosted music.

I just published a full tutorial series on how to use The Public Library. All the tutorials feature music from folks who are publishing on the platform

We are gonna use every resource we got to make this happen

Ah! Super reasonable, was always the intention. Should be mid-week as well.

There are a few quick run throughs on Youtube now, but a comprehensive long form is in the make and should be released this week.

Continuing with Tinge, this time in techno shapes. Sync is a fun function especially when you can defeat it in creative ways!

The fact that there’s words like leftist, but rightist sounds weird. Gives away the conforming directionality.

Not an arpeggiator, but a "note agitator." I had a long chat with @daedelus.bsky.social and @rainbowcircuit.bsky.social about their new collaboration on the plug-in Tinge. Also played with this live Saturday with Sculpture (also heard here.) What a gem:

Project CETI is decoding whale communication. Find out how these efforts might help the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. We hear the story of chattering cetaceans and “Animal Alphabets” on @bipisci.bsky.social. 🧪

I find it notable that both X (where I asked the question) and Spotify (were I first hosted the playlist made from answers) are horrid. Let's not rest until we forge new spaces for art and artists.

Long ago (on a platform far away) I asked "When was the last time you were devastated by a song?" I'll repeat it here in case you want to change a life (mine first and maybe others if you click the link).

Feeling down about platforms, but ever encouraged by the artists getting out there with fresh sounds. We need an absolute cacophony to drown out the apathy. Today's Bandcamp Friday feels so; the time we can more directly support artists.

Here's a small list of who (and in turn please share yours)

In my experience it was around the same time as I had an LP releasing and it was kind of an exclusive for their store in the promo cycle. Perhaps still good timing to pitch?

Ying Yang Twins - Whisper Song is somehow way better and more explicit as a “clean” radio edit.

I do believe this will (for now) greatly limit my listenership. I’m ok with this, but do lament this is one of the hard choices other musicians must make in the current music industrial complex.

I’ve made the decision to not provide this album to Spotify. Plus by the end of 2025 I hope to have all the music I have control over off that platform.
