Because it was all before my time, this is a fascinating obit for German twin sisters who started in cabarets and became a regular presence on TV and in film. The Kessler sisters never married or had kids and they chose to die together Monday at age 89. (Gift link)

For those keeping track:

The government pursued charges against five people arrested outside the ICE facility in Broadview, IL during a protest there on Sept. 27.

As of today, all five of those cases have now been thrown out.
"Mr. Briggs, you're free to go. This case is dismissed," Fuentes says, banging his gavel.

And that's that, Fuentes off the bench.

Uses of force by Chicago police -- the primary reason CPD is under a federal consent decree -- jumped sharply from 2022 to 2024. Supt. Snelling acknowledged a rise in reports of cops pointing guns at people, a practice CPD and the city badly did not want to track as part of the court order.

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.
