I cycle both rurally and in Dublin city centre. This is how I'm usually kitted out - out of fear for my life. I'd feel a lot safer if I knew the government were planning on building proper, segregated cycle lanes, than if this gear was made mandatory.
A mandate on this would solve nothing. 🚴

None of this is unexpected. Tenants saw it coming a mile away because we know what transpires in reality. I wrote about this legislation last summer and I'm being proven correct. I'm not a policy expert. I'm just a tenant. I'm intimately familiar with the reality of renting. FFG are not #spéirgorm

St Gobnait was an Irish female saint associated with bees in the Middle Ages and is still celebrated by local communities today

The ongoing extreme weather and flooding across Ireland should trigger unprecedented climate action from our government.

The question is though, will they act?

We need landscape scale rewetting, we need swamps, bogs, and marshes, and we need to reconnect rivers with their floodplains in areas where it'll do less damage. Unfortunately we have had terrible politicians who use their role in the OPW as a way to look busy and serious, not actually fix anything
