I wasn't a big fan of #F1, but turns out not to be my least favorite of the #Oscars Best Picture nominees. That review to come hopefully tomorrow!
'F1' review: Racing movie is a vehicle for clichés
A lot of sports dramas are basically Hallmark movies for dudes, reproducing the same basic formulas ad infinitum.

Finally got to see #Pillion, the gay kinky biker movie that's really about communication (or the lack thereof). #filmsky #gay
'Pillion' review: Touching BDSM coming-of-age tale
Pillion is a lovely dramedy about self-actualization in the guise of a love story.

I saw the vroom vroom movie. It's so formulaic I could have written this review before watching it.

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

Remember, sneering works. It’s working now. That’s why the lowliest AI fan and the CEO of Microsoft are trying to get us to stop saying “slop.”

AI art is supposed to be its flashy flagship and treating it as disposable rubbish (which it is) ruins everything

Got my Saturday planned out with "Marty Supreme" and "Pillion" back to back. Is that pairing inspired or just weird? Hoping for weird actually.

A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.

Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

Somewhere somehow, we need to start from scratch when it comes to media. Powerful owners might sometimes make the right call (e.g. that scene in Spielberg’s THE POST). But often, they won’t. And so the future of news should *never* be at the mercy of the rich, ever. A brand-new start is needed.

I'm proud of my newsletter, which I've been chipping away at for almost a year. It has grown, but it's not a viable revenue stream yet. You basically need to be your own publicist and sales manager to make it work if you don't already have the name recognition.
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.
