I'm gonna say something. I strongly believe that - for me - allowing myself to be political on social media is profoundly damaging. That doesn't mean I'm not political. It means self care (1)
I managed to waste my entire first day of my new Day Dweller work schedule online scrolling like a zombie. I have to go to bed in three hours in order to get up rested for my first day in the new schedule of 4:30AM to 3PM. Ugh. They call this unholy abomination the "Day Shift" for some reason.

Bumping this more visibly, as due to rescheduling I have extra spots open right now!
I have openings in my editing calendar. I do developmental edits of novellas and novels, and work with multiple genres. More information here: www.kathowardbooks.com/editing and I'm always happy to answer questions.
I decided to take a break from my series after the second book and write a fun novella sized retelling the Ulster Cycle myths of Cú Chulainn before I went onto the third novel in the series.
Turns out this is going to be a full novel length project...oops
I've completed two novels and am about 10k into the third, and almost all of it was written after midnight (It's 1:50AM right now). My shift changes next weekend and I will become a day dweller again. Honestly worried about my future productivity.
I was out in Los Angeles. Building movie sets for a living. I wasn't in the union and I had no health insurance. Motorcycle accident. No job. Lost my apt. Lived in my truck (I borrowed $ to buy) 2 months. Without help from friends and fam, I wouldn't have made it back from that.
Sorry if I seem to be harping on things a bit much today. I spent a portion of my adult life DIRT FUCKING POOR. Once, while out of work for three weeks, a friend (a 19yr old waitress) bought me two weeks of groceries and kept me alive. I've never forgotten that kindness and aim to be more like her.
I love a good BBQ as much as any Austinite, but my farmer friends remind me that the rich would go a lot farther as fertilizer. I'm not sold on that, personally. Im thinking a big picnic.
Does anyone know if he has bought a fiddle yet?
"Yes, Myrddin."
She looked confused, "Myr-what?"
"Myrddin. It is a title bestowed on the strongest human mage, is it not?"
"Is it?"
"Do you humans remember anything?"
I interrupted with the most ironic thing I've ever said in my entire ADHD life, "You all need to focus right now. What is your idea?"
If you only get one night in Paris...well...you know...

Your favorite book you will ever read isn't a best seller. It will be recommended to you while discussing a favorite best seller with friends.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat
Rewatching Supernatural and every once in a while, they have an episode that just makes me shake my head and say, "Why are you ruining all the good cryptids?"

Shoujo's are not girls from the well. #pedanticbastard #cryptids #legends #spirits
I swear the entire Atlantic Seaboard watched Akira for the first time by borrowing one of two available crappy vhs tapes from each other. One was dubbed in English, and the other had subtitles.

Kung fu movies were occasionally on TV, but only on the channel that never came in clear.
Most of John Woo's and Jackie Chan's catalogue was available only at Asian video stores which duped the films from PAL to VHS for rental (which was legal at the time).

HEAVY METAL only occasionally showed up on late night paid cable and could only be watched on recordings of those showings.
throwing this prompt from Twitter in here. what examples you got?
My last 225k words have come in those same most productive hours. Must be totally normal and not weird at all?
And when I say 200 yr old house, I mean the one that family has owned and lived in for 200 years.
When we travel, the best moment is inevitably that unexpected inclusion into the world we're visiting. Shortly after these pics, my wife and I spent 5 hrs with my local friends and thier families drinking and eating in a 200yr old house and just enjoying the company. #travel #galicia #spain
Well, at the risk of sounding fanboy - you write it, I'll read it.
When you serialized Old Man's War, was it behind a paywall, or did you give it away, or monetize some other way? Thank you.
Did it twice, in 2002, when I serialized Old Man's War on my personal site (which led to it being traditionally published in 2005), and in 2013, when Tor and I released The Human Division in 13 installments, one a week. Each installment made the USA Today bestseller list, which was cool.
bring back the serialized novel, we could spend all week discussing each chapter online like we do tv shows
Today I got my orders of:

Gonna be a good week! Go buy some books!
Somebody say 4th down?
My hope is all of them.
I've got to say - one of my absolute favorite things to do while writing is to have a character notice a plot hole and bring it up to everyone... Makes me want to scream, "How bout you write the damn story!"

Keith, my immigrant Shouju just did that to me.
