Haven't posted any photos of geological wonders for a while, so here's an #AwesomeFoursome from the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in #Iceland taken last February.
Lines of smooth pebbles wedged in the gaps between some smoothed basalt column tops on a beach. There are also some piles of pebbles brought in by the tide. Everything is grey. A holy rock (tafoni) looks a bit like a fish head with an eye made up of another rock in a hole. That rock has a little smiling face on it. A couple of lines of pebbles wedged into rock gaps. Grey. A hexagon-shaped fragmented basalt column top worn away on a beach has a line of pebbles wedged in the gap around it.

Waves coming off the basalt columns at Reynisfjara black sand beach. It's amazing that the camera technology is so good now that this was handheld at 1/8th second - the columns are sharp but I was able to capture the movement of the water too.

A large cliff of different-sized black basalt columns with some water trailing off the lower ones at the bottom and a bit off the top right ones. The water is quite smooth as the exposure length was slowed down.
