Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the gravest public health threats confronting the world.

AMR will cause 39 million deaths by 2050.

This is a direct threat to the UK that demands urgent action, not short-sighted funding cuts.

There's really good organisations, locally & nationally, who are there for support. You just need to ask.

On World Mental Health Day, we have to recognise that there's no stigma in having mental health issues and that we need to treat mental health as seriously as we treat physical health.

We've become very good at counting the costs of mental health care, but ignore the huge value it gives us. People deserve access to good mental health services when they need it. I'll keep fighting to protect our services and ensure mental health is treated as seriously as physical health.

It's World Mental Health Day. At a time when our NHS is under threat & struggling to meet demand despite the amazing efforts of staff, it's so easy for politicians to dismiss mental health & cut services even further as part of their "tough choices" for the economy. I reject this way of thinking.

There is only one way to make this a proper peace and that is a two state solution.

A Palestinian independent state alongside the state of Israel, where both peoples can live in security and dignity.

There is plenty more to do to ensure that the risks to our biosecurity are taken seriously, particularly when it comes to the illegal import of animal products - and I will continue to put pressure on the Government to address these threats to public health.

Brucella canis is an infectious disease affecting dogs and, in some cases, humans. Vets have long been calling for more testing, so it's welcome that the Government has announced - dogs commercially imported from Romania must have a negative Brucella canis test result.

Government decision on mandatory testing for Brucella canis vital step forward for animal and public health
Following years of campaigning, BVA has welcomed news that all commercial dog imports from Romania into Great Britain will be required to undergo mandatory pre-import testing for Brucella canis.

Thanks to the Winchester Litter Pickers for inviting me along to help tidy up our streets. They've fostered a fantastic community atmosphere where people can come along to help and meet new people. I really recommend it!

Two years ago, we witnessed the horror of Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 people brutally murdered, 251 people taken hostage. We have since witnessed Netanyahu's disastrous response, leading to 10s of thousands of deaths in Gaza.
Two years ago today, we witnessed the horror of Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel. 1,200 innocent people brutally murdered, 251 people taken hostage, torn from their homes.

Antisemitism is on the rise around the world and here in the UK. My thoughts too are with the victims of the synagogue attack in Manchester - Adrian Daulby, Melvin Cravitz and their families.

I stand in solidarity with British Jews, Jewish communities around the world and the people of Israel against terrorism and antisemitism in all its forms.

For every day since then, we have witnessed Netanyahu's disastrous response, leading to 10s of thousands of deaths of innocent people in Gaza.

Let us hope that recent peace talks will finally see the hostages returned home to their families, an end to the genocide and Hamas out of power in Gaza for good.

Those responsible for terrorism and genocide must be brought to justice so the people of Israel and the people of Gaza can live in peace.

I am horrified by the images of a mosque in Peacehaven burning after a suspected arson attack.

Everyone should be able to worship free from fear and terror.

Islamophobia is totally unacceptable. Those who spread hatred and incite violence against Muslim communities must stop.

On this painful morning, my thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz – the two men tragically killed outside their synagogue yesterday – and with the whole Jewish community who have been the target of a vicious attack on their holiest day.
Antisemitism, terrorism and hatred can be defeated. But only if we all stand united against them. This attack didn’t happen in a vacuum. Antisemitism is rife on Britain’s streets. British Jews have been living in fear, especially since Hamas’s horrific terror attacks of October 7th.
That must end now. We all must come together to make sure our Jewish friends and neighbours feel safe walking on their streets and worshipping at their synagogues.
Those who preach antisemitic hatred, those who incite violence against Jews – whether online, on marches or anywhere else – must be stopped. It is never acceptable.
I know that, together, we can make sure that our British values of decency, tolerance and respect will prevail.

We've helped parents ensure their children's educational needs are met. Supported businesses & farmers with grant applications. Taken on water companies when they've overcharged & polluted our environment. And, I've spoken up in Parliament on the big issues Winchester residents care about the most.

Horrified and appalled by the attack outside Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

This afternoon, Donald Trump has the power to end the human suffering and horrors in Gaza.

Before Trump's meeting with Netanyahu, Keir Starmer needs to pick up the phone to the President - and get him to act.

Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant.

His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom.

But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague.

We will miss him terribly.
