Mostly retired DJ at Pop-o-matic and Got To Give It Up. 1/3 of popshow promoters Macho Music Is Stupid. Also quite keen on horror and craft beer. He/him.
Bit of DAD'S ARMY on a Saturday teatime, as is right and proper.

(The complete series box set was cheap in the HMV sale last Sunday).

I'd weirdly happy with a 2-0 defeat to Premier League opposition tbh.

You used to see this "logic" with people who argued against blocking trolls. "If you block, they win!"

Win what? What are we fighting for? Are we actually believing the trolls here? "If you block me I win!" has the whiff of "I win times infinity" from an eight-year-old.

I've had people try and tell me that Sheffield is actually in the Midlands, based on the fact that much of what is now the south of the city was once in Derbyshire. But apparently people in north Derbyshire (probably correctly) consider themselves northerners 🤷
Where do people say they live in the North?

Although typically classed as being in the Midlands, majorities of those in the northern parts of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire consider themselves to live in the North

It’s 36 years since a Swansea fan invaded the pitch (and scored) at Anfield in the FA Cup.

So much to enjoy here:

- The shoes
- The denim
- The melodic slow-mo
- And then the steward’s slide tackle that finally sends him sprawling

This is CINEMA.

Onward to 1973 anthology film TALES THAT WITNESS MADNESS, which I'm not sure I've seen before. I assumed it was Amicus who made it, but apparently not.

Now watching REANIMATOR, which I should have watched last night for Evolution of Horror homework instead of CHOPPING MALL. It's not like anyone ever regrets watching two @barbaracrampton.bsky.social films in a row though is it?

Another reminder that "Everyone Is Horrid Except Me And Possibly You" from this episode is an amazing Smiths parody.

Also: Morrissey remains a dickhead.
Reminder that "chief exponent of free speech" Morrissey threatened a lawsuit against The Simpsons because the episode 'Panic on the Streets of Springfield' (2021) poked fun at a character based on him.

(But he said he didn't have the money to so)

"9 2 5" by Nourished By Time is my main. It may not be my favourite song from my favourite album of 2025, but it's the one with a catchy chorus (and is still amazing obvs). Votes much appreciated please!

In case you've seen the story about “grok now only generates images for paid users”, it's untrue. Apparently everyone just reported it because… it was what grok told them 🤦🏼

No, Grok hasn’t paywalled its deepfake image feature
X’s sexual deepfake machine is still running, despite Grok saying otherwise.

If the Space Jaguar mini album "Every Room Is An Escape Room" had come out before PPP 2025 nomination day, there'd be a bit more power pop in the competition. Amazing stuff.

The new Dry Cleaning album rules.

I always assumed that the thing they do would grow stale over an album's worth of it, but there's enough variety on the new 'un that it never does.

Half an hour into an episode of 60 Songs That Explain The 90s, and Rob hasn't mentioned the song the episode is about yet, or even the band that does it.

He's banged on about Terence Trent D'Arby and Desiree a lot though.
