Hello new @freeze64.bsky.social issue. You've arrived just as I've got a Commodore tape drive in bits, what are the chances? 😉

Cheers Vinny.

Those times when you split one guy off from your platoon, blow up a nearby building and the roof (or a snowman!) flies off and kills the other three. You're sat there thinking "f@!#ing hell" but laughing at the same time. That is gaming at its peak.

Playing Cannon Fodder again, just as much fun as it always was.

Private Stoo goes in Rambo style, blows the roof off the enemy HQ which then lands on the guy hiding in the corner. Love it!

Weird, I was playing Leaderboard on Amiga earlier. Never played it before, love it on the C64 but PGA Tour Golf was always my go-to on Amiga.

It's not those sort of videos I'm referring to, although some of Lee's might be watched in that way. On a channel called "More Fun Dealing with Household Emergencies" it would be completely at odds with the subject matter, but I do take your point. 🙂
dantootill.bsky.social
Adrian gets away with it because he's kind of made it a catchphrase. Plus you know he means it. 🙂

I think I've just had a vision of the future where I start a 'proper' YT channel, spend a month crafting a cool intro thinking "this will grab their attention" and then sit there wondering why I don't get any views. 🤪
dantootill.bsky.social
Yeah, Ashens has more of an ident than an intro. It has everything it needs.
dantootill.bsky.social
Techmoan has an ident rather than an intro. But he also has closing credits and a fab tune (incidentally from the YT royalty free content library, and he's not the only one who uses it).
dantootill.bsky.social
Ah, but if you watch YT videos in one of three ways - reference, entertainment or background?

Intros only really matter to me if I'm watching for entertainment. I know from the description it's of interest to me, I've got my cup of tea, let's go! 🤓

It does seem to go that way, and the stats don't lie. LGR just has captions and a bit of music over his opening lines, which is kperhaps the best of both worlds?
dantootill.bsky.social
Yeah any longer than Adrian's would be too long, but even a super short one like @janbeta.net has adds *something*

I can't think of any that are in "Eye on Springfield" territory. 😆

That's probably how most people see it. When @slopesgameroom.bsky.social first started up, he used to have a glorious title sequence, but then he cut it to just a few seconds and sometimes doesn't use one at all.

I'm happy to accept that it's just me being weird, but I miss it!
dantootill.bsky.social
Now that's interesting. Why do I not mind seeing the same one every time? I'm one of those strange people who hardly ever clicks the 'skip intro' button as well.

Been think about this all morning. Collectively, do we like YouTuber title sequences? Or do we prefer jumping straight in?

Personally, I feel it frames a video more like an 'episode', but maybe I'm still conditioned for traditional TV due to my age.

It might be a waste of your time mate. I quite like a cold opening. And the first 30 seconds of a video are super important. You might notice people using intros less and less

My creative side would have loved an Amiga back then, but the Mega Drive was my only 16-bit option for that very reason.

MD was a good machine for me, as I loved SEGA coin-ops, but I would have done far more with a proper computer like the A500. No real regrets though.

Why oh why did they have to remove paddle support for this one? Arkanoid with a mouse just doesn't cut the mustard in my opinion.
dantootill.bsky.social
It is depressing, but it's also cathartic to have a succinct, written record of why everything has gone to shit.
dantootill.bsky.social
Surely, someone will do an animated intro and a tune for your channel before long. Heck I'll have a go myself if you like (once the rebooted Commodore are done with me obvs.)
dantootill.bsky.social
Why so hard on yourself? You'll never fail to spot one of those boards again! 🙂
dantootill.bsky.social
I was thinking the other day, how has nobody offer to make you some intro music? 🤘
