“If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing.”

I wrote about the worst people in the world, charting the depths of their depravity and vastness of their incompetence, and offered some thoughts about the opportunity presented by their failure to acknowledge reality and their refusal to access any form of human virtue.

A3: Schools must build reflection into the process. Carve out and protect time specifically for reflection, not just during class/planning time, but in faculty meetings, PLCs, coaching sessions, etc. Going back to Q1 - encourage different methods of reflection. #EduSkyChat
Q3: How can schools create a culture that supports and prioritizes teacher reflection?

A2: There are lots of reasons to reflect: improving instructional practices, staying committed to growth, encouraging innovation. But reflection also helps us identify and embrace moments of joy in our work, which can be incredibly challenging. #EduSkyChat
Q2: Why is it more important than ever for teachers to reflect, and what happens when they don’t?

A2: if we’re going by the definition of “to think deeply or carefully about,” then it’s baked in to teaching as a practice. One quote I always liked is “you deliver pizza. You don’t deliver instruction.” You participate in it, fine tune, amend. #EduSkyChat

A1: the best reflection usually comes from colleagues in the same 🚢 as you, which is why #EduSkyChat is great! It can be a combination of asking yourself what went right, bouncing ideas off of others, being honest about your impact.
Q1: What does reflection look like in practice for teachers? Is it writing, thinking, discussing— or all of the above?
