Right-wing premiers across Canada are using the notwithstanding clause to target trans kids, public sector workers, and people who use drugs with laws that violate their rights.

@desaima.bsky.social writes about how Saskatchewan has shown you can build unlikely alliances to try to stop them.

Ontario, don’t fool yourselves. Canada isn’t immune to Trumpism. Ford is showing it in full colour: consolidating power, punishing dissent, and treating democracy like an inconvenience. This is what creeping authoritarianism looks like before it fully arrives. Wake up, Canada #ONPoli #CDNPoli

At this point, if Ontarians don't start pushing back, ON will be sold off piece by piece under the Ford government. The damage from this level of corruption and short-term greed will linger for decades, and recovering from the destruction being set in motion now will not be easy #ONPoli #ONFightBack

Ford’s corruption is everywhere. It baffles me that so many in Ontario still vote Conservative while watching the province be dismantled or sold off. It is disheartening, and I fear the damage his cabinet has done will linger for generations. #ONPoli #Ontario #FordFailedOntario

This government is deeply corrupt. It is hard to find a decision that does not reek of misconduct. Greenbelt giveaways, blue licence plates, misused post-secondary funds, contracts for friends and family. They do not even try to hide it anymore. #ONPoli #FordDestroyedOntario #VoteFordOut
The Ontario PC govt spent more on public advertising in the run-up to Feb’s snap election than any other Ontario govt in history, the auditor general has found, pushing commercials with a message that “promotes the governing party.”

It's honestly alarming how little transparency and accountability we are seeing from this government. The pattern is clear: decisions benefiting insiders, rushed policies, and a refusal to answer to the public. It feels like they believe they OWN Ontario instead of serving it. #OnPoli #VoteFordOut

What can we do to pressure Piccini's resignation: 1) request an Integrity Commissioner inquiry; 2) ask the Lobbyists Registrar to review lobbying/gift compliance; 3) press police/Crown if there’s evidence of criminality; 4) use public/political pressure and electoral routes. #FirePiccini #OnPoli
