The map tool I created for #StateVector is now available. It's a star catalog you can use for any scifi rpg (or just because!).

It's still very early in development, but the technical-minded can upload their own yaml files to add custom planets and other objects!

Thinking I'm going to have to ashcan this so I can get the latest Sixty Years in Space update out in the next week or so. Not ideal, as its missing a bunch of rules around the edges, but I think its necessary.

You should play Seance of Blake Manor by @spookydoorway.bsky.social. It's a masterpiece!

Also Dooley is back!

As most of you (I assume) I'm part of way too many discords, but some I actually try to interact with. The problem is just that they are SO FAST. Like any time I open it the discussion is hundreds of messages further and has nothing to do with what was talked about before.

Let's look at how the union busting of @gameworkers.co.uk has been working out... It would probs slow union growth if @rockstargames.com reinstated the workers now rather than keeping them out!

If you work in video or tabletop games in the UK, this is the link for you: iwgb.org.uk/en/join/game...

Instead of Traveller 5E, we should all give Traveller 5 another try, wouldn't you say?

No?

Romeus 1, the "green ring" of a rotating orbital station. From its size and selection of plants, it is purely recreational, which is a valid choice for people living in space for long periods.

One thing I don’t like about Star Wars is how every Yoda is on the Jedi council or connected to a prophecy or a beloved cultural icon, it’s time for a Yoda who works at Buffalo Wild Wings and has a 2014 Ford Focus

BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

The fact that itch posted this and not even an hour later I got a bunch of new sales proves how big it is when other people talk about your games.

It can literally be a life changing events.

When John Harper made a nice quote tweet about Breathless, hundreds of people looked at the game.

Most people hear “heat pump” and think of small air-source units at home. But Germany is building one of the world’s largest heat pumps in Mannheim: a 162 MW river-source system using heat from the Rhine.

Big reminder that heat-pumps scale far beyond households — they can decarbonise whole cities.

I played a very long campaign with a group over around 5-6 years. I had to remind them nearly every session on how to roll their skills. It was the best campaign I've ever played, because they were just so into it!
Hot TTRPG take: It's less important that the group fully knows the rules and abilities than it is that they show up with enthusiasm to engage the game. #ttrpg

It's time to end the arguments, they've gone on much too long. Here is the definitive ranking of Star Wars:

1. Star Wars (film, 1977)
2. Star Wars (comic book series, 1977-present)
3. Star Wars (video game, 1983)
4. Star Wars (novelisation, 1976)
5. Star Wars (proposed missile defence system, 1983)

Growing up in Germany I got this question basically every day. It's totally unbelievable for people there that somebody doesn't drink, especially a guy. "Not even beer?!"

Having moved to Italy now I've only had that question asked once in two years. It feels so nice not to fear saying no.
Just a friendly reminder as we go into the holidays:

Folks don't have to explain to you why they don't drink.

If you offer them a drink and they decline, don't ask them why. It's not your business.

Just offer them something without alcohol to drink instead. And move on.

The amount of people I know who have been laid off from games industry jobs and are deciding to leave games entirely as a result is not only extremely saddening (of course), but also genuinely scary. We have lost legitimately thousands of years of knowledge and experience in the last four years.
