An Idaho law restricting books deemed “harmful” to minors buckled under Ninth Circuit review, with the appeals court on Thursday instructing a lower court to reconsider blocking at least a portion of the law.
Ninth Circuit revives challenge to Idaho library book censorship law
The court found the law likely violates the First Amendment by allowing subjective, age-based censorship.

None of us are safe until all of us are safe.
I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.

But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
The arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.

Bidding closes tonight. Search under Author Visits.
Authors get a lot of requests for free visits from schools who can’t afford to pay. This auction is an opportunity to double your impact by bidding on a school visit and then donating it to a school that would never be able to afford to have an author visit.
Bidding is now open for school visits, manuscript consultations, signed books, original art & more, all to benefit immigrants & resistors in MN.

I’m offering 3 virtual school visits for students of any age, from preschool through grad school, plus a bunch of signed books.

I donated. Maine is waiting in the wings to be the next Minnesota. Let’s help.
Help protect Maine from ICE.

I'm donating to Food For All, and if you:
- repost this, I'll donate $1
- call your representative, tell them to ABOLISH ICE, and quote-post this with whether you got a machine or a staffer on the phone, I'll donate $10
- quote-post this with your donation, I'll match!

Reality is not bias.
A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

Dear #BookSky Minneapolis has an absolutely incredible literary culture. In fact, three of the most important small presses call the city home; Coffeehouse Press, Graywolf, and Milkweed. There are also a ton of great bookstores in the Twin Cities. So here's the assignment...

In case you missed it: comics artists are telling the story of the ICE occupation of the Twin Cities in four heartbreaking panels.
#iceoutcomics documents what's happening in the Twin Cities in heart-wrenching 4-panel comics. Learn the backstory & see some of the resulting comics in this week's Sigh of Relief. Includes a how-to for teachers to bring the project into their classrooms.

Also creepy cops have used it to stalk an intimate partner who was fleeing abuse
404 Media has great reporting on Flock but I recommending linking to their reporting about the condor cameras esp bc it's galling as fuck. The condor cams record people not license plates and it was hackable to anyone on the internet bc their software is shit.

Watching the Twin Cities respond to the ICE invasion has filled me with admiration. I wrote a piece about channeling our inner Minnesotans in this week's Sigh of Relief.
