With SANDBAGGERS now on Amazon Prime, I present The Cut-Glass Index, a ranking of the series' posh accents. We begin at #10: Jeff Ross. Cartoonish American accent, vital as a foil, but a deep blow to the character. A golden retriever gallumping through the hedge rows amid the beagles. Score: 0/10Jef
"Grenade" is in the name, guys.

RPG scenario design will not improve until the products start looking like board game manuals.

I can overlook the bait of MASTER & COMMANDER when I see my beloved THE TASTE OF THINGS.
What do Peter Weir's MASTER & COMMANDER, Kasi Lemmons' TALK TO ME, Roman Coppola's CQ, and Amy Heckerling's I COULD NEVER BE YOUR WOMAN have in common? They're all on my list of the 50 Most Underappreciated Movies of the 21st Century (so far). The full list is here: time.com/collections/...

RPG designers need to put some distance between themselves and CRPG design theory. If the dungeon is deadly, if you're facing a powerful demon you shouldn't poke, if the monsters don't plan to fight fair, there's a GM responsible for all those things, not code. They could have done differently.

I have enough trouble getting my group to even consider using horses to travel faster.

The king: "This matter is most urgent. If you do not arrive at the edge of the kingdom in time, all might be lost."

My players: "Who do we see first in the 'Fellowship crossing the mountains' montage?"
When GMing, make your world feel more authentic by putting animals in it. In a battle, it's not just warriors that are dying—it's horses. Afterwards, crows and dogs are there to feed on the carrion—maybe even carrion crawlers.

Animals live with us in every capacity. Enrich your world with them.

Great acclaim awaits the RPG scenario designer who realizes that their product should be written to resemble the notes GMs make when prepping it.

Isn't there a fancy word for a collection of loose, but related papers gathered and held in what are essentially separated book covers? Not a folder, exactly, but like a book with proper covers and pages in between that's not bound? I thought "palimpsest" was the word, but I'm wrong. Anyone?

It's no accident that the best writer of film criticism also produces the best video countdowns. In both mediums, he understands that it is through attention to form and syntax that ideas and emotions land with the reader or viewer.

"[Shakespeare In Love] belongs firmly to the Wellesian tradition, using the tools of popular entertainment to sneak in profundity and beauty. Hamnet, on the other hand, is Olivier through and through: beautiful, respectable, and terminally dull."

For those with a male perineum, there’s MOR, a device that can gently zap the area to either delay or intensify ejaculation.
