Economics does the same, but they have established quite wide-ranging evidence that doing so creates "alphabetic discrimination" in which there are career and publication advantages to those with names at the start of the alphabet. See, eg: dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn...
The Effects of Listing Authors in Alphabetical Order: A Review of the Empirical Evidence
Each time researchers jointly write an article, a decision must be made about the order in which the authors are listed. There are two main norms for doing so.

Pretty sure the entire membership of all the affiliated unions can vote. That’ll kick it up by a lot.

Can’t get no Satisfaction unless you’re the Dutch coast.
So we have to guess how many students will hit their offer while not also getting accepted somewhere they’d rather be. No part of this makes sense.
Yes. It’s insane. Students apply before they know what their grades are (which leads to the effect observed in the research above of affluent students making more assertive applications). We then have to make binding offers along the lines of “if you get these grades then you can come”.
Yet another piece of evidence in favour of post qualification admissions: which of course we will never do because we mustn’t ever inconvenience Oxbridge.
Surely “polling related” is redundant in that sentence.
It was very special. Conor’s presence rang around the church.
Isn’t that how the LCS happened?
Congratulations! Cargo bikes are the best baby transport.

A wonderful tribute.
The news of Conor Gearty's death has just been announced and I'm not coping. He was a mentor and the pole star in my constitutional thinking. He was also a great friend and fantastic fun to be around. I'm heartbroken for Aoife and the children.

This was Conor Gearty only a week or so ago at @prospectmagazine.co.uk on ECHR withdrawal and the Palestine Action ban.
🎧: The Prospect Podcast is back from summer break! On today’s episode, Conor Gearty explains what’s at stake if Britain leaves the ECHR, and reacts to the Palestine Action ban.
Are we losing our civil liberties?

Awful news about the death of the great Conor Gearty.

Perhaps the kindest and most encouraging law professor imaginable.

A dreadful loss to the study of civil liberties and constitutional law.

London has a tube strike and I'm listening to the audiobook A Particularly Nasty Case by Adam Kay. It's 20 years since he and Suman Biswas released the song London Underground after another tube strike. I remember a colleague sharing it with me. Been a fan ever since.

I don't have a copy of the stability curve for the luxury speedboat above, but it's easy to draw one for yourself.

The letter U is on every keyboard.
Indeed, if the quantity is “hottest day of the UK summer” then 0C is an out of band value which would make the graph misleading by compressing the range. 25C seems like a perfectly sensible base line.
