A really good read. This book is pushing 20 years old, but its lessons are just as relevant today.
The book is well written and some of the stories are genuinely harrowing.
Seems that welfare programs aren't made to help poor people, but to trap or punish them for their poverty and that's not right.

Today in #LaborHistory 10/9/1967: #Plowshares movement began when Father #DanielBerrigan & the Plowshares 8 trespassed onto #GeneralElectric & beat on parts for #Minuteman missiles & poured blood on documents. Many other actions & many activists imprisoned, incl Berrigan brothers.
