It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.
The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

As the product of a rural upbringing and its attendant small-town school budget, it occurred to me at an early age that it was odd that the otherwise relatable small town of Bedford Falls could afford a retractable gym floor and an indoor pool.

The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."
