This is so intensely awful. Santos is Australia's ExxonMobil - one of the meanest, most aggressive and bloody-minded fossil fuel companies in the country. They're obsessed with suing their critics into the ground, and they're winning.

📢 as #COP29 plenary is getting closer to completion, let me get back to the adoption earlier today of two decisions that will expand the use of offsets and markets as means to implement the #ParisAgreement

US methane leakage averages nearly 3%, and in the Permian where most LNG export facilities are being built it's over 9%.

We have to build clean stuff, and stop building dirty stuff. 🔌💡

Prospects for #climatefinance at #COP29 do not look good. Deadlock can provide an opportunity for issue linkage. It’s time to get creative and think outside the #UNFCCC box. Developing countries have options. They should swing for the fences. 🧵

While we are distracted by war and the atrocious debasing of the values we should hold dear, a lack of commitment to reduce emissions by the biggest polluters is a clear signal. Profit for the few is more important than a livable future for our children. #G20 #CoP29 www.ft.com/content/8352...

📢 “Trillions, not billions!”

At #COP29, voices from the Global South demand climate finance that is adequate, predictable, and just.

Public finance —not loans— is essential for adaptation, mitigation, and #LossAndDamage. 🌍🌏🌎

Developing countries publicly doubled down today on their call for trillions in climate aid from richer nations — but privately, some acknowledged that a smaller proposal European Union governments are discussing might be the best they will get for now.
‘Underwhelming’: Poor countries push for way more climate funding than the EU is floating
Privately, however, some conceded they may have to settle for the lower figures for now as COP29 talks amble toward the finish line.
