No, autistics do not “lack empathy”: “Where researchers had assumed impairment, they found autistic people applying moral principles more consistently—even to strangers, even when costly.” By Ludmila Pradlova.

What the World Got Wrong About Autistic People
For decades, autism research compared autistic people to animals, denied them moral sensitivity, and assumed autistic traits made them miserable. All wrong.

In my ‘stack collapse’ piece late last year I suggested the parts of the front end stack that exist for developer convenience will come under pressure. This is Tailwind becoming commoditized by LLMs writing it. Next they skip it entirely

I smashed my head on a low hanging street sign while looking at my phone.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

I only look at chronological, or if I'm really desperate, "popular with people you follow".

Discover is trash.
What feed do you look at most on here?

For all that people talk about wanting to avoid algorithmically-curated feeds, the (pareto) pattern of engagement I see seems to bely that.

My hunch is that most people spend most of their time on feeds like Popular With Friends or Discover.

Buttons are back. Knobs are back. Dumb devices are back. Own-it-forever software is back. Print is back. Personal websites and chronological feeds are back. Touching grass is back. People keep saying 2015, but it’s not far enough. The entire 2010s were a mistake. We must retvrn to… 2009.
Amazingly, reaction times using screens while driving are worse than being drunk or high—no wonder 90 percent of drivers hate using touchscreens in cars. Finally the auto industry is coming to its senses.

I get a kick out of places/experiences that become adjectives, like "Carnival", "Boardwalk", "State Fair", "Backyard BBQ", etc

These dudes rock.
In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.

When decimalisation occurred in 1966, the Australian government compiled an 81 page file on dangers of using decimal coins in Christmas puddings. There was a media campaign warning people not to use the new coins in their cooking. The file is now digitised.
