If this was the premise of a Philip K. Dick novel, I’d think it was a step too far.

🇮🇹 Oh look what just arrived in the office – I guess I’ve been published in Italian again ! Congratulations on a fine collection, @gboccia.bsky.social (and what a cover !)…

Guess now we know how many Zs it takes to translate “destructive polarisation” into Italian, too (‘polarizzazione’ 😲).

Laure, the point is that most people still conceptualise technology - platforms included - as neutral “tools”. I’ve been trying for over a decade now to change that perception. I invite you to engage with the body of work I’ve linked above, if you’d like me to take your post seriously.

And you know what really sucks about this move? Elon Musk made it virtually impossible now to collect data at scale to map and analyze CIB networks, because the academic API was shut down and the free API does nothing.

X now reveals the locations of user accounts, pulling back the curtain on the scale and scope of manipulation and “coordinated inauthentic behaviour” on the platform. At the least, I hope it helps us reevaluate platforms as “neutral” infrastructure.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Coz the regime don’t like it, man.

I’ve just released a game about representation, mimesis, and escape. You load an image from your computer and it converts it to an ascii dungeon for you to try and escape.

Back in 1993 there was no fucking around. Prime Minister Paul Keating went into the studio and told the listeners directly what was happening on the Mabo decision. PMs can't do that these days. #auspol
