The irony and the hypocrisy:
Texas has a bigger violent crime problem than Illinois, with a violent crime rate of 389 offenses per 100,000 people in 2024 compared to Illinois' rate of 289 offenses per 100,000 people. Recent studies also rank Texas as 48th out of 50 states for overall safety. .

The recent ICE raid which emptied an entire apartment building was apparently at the request of Wells Fargo, which is trying to foreclose on the building.

The building is in a 27 million dollar foreclosure filed by Wells Fargo. The next day, Wells Fargo filed an emergency motion for receivership. The fascist regime kindly emptied the building for donor Wells Fargo.

Today the governor of Texas has sent troops to invade and occupy Illinois against the wishes of the People of IL & its governor. This will be the first time since 1865 that troops from the former Confederacy make an incursion into a Northern state.

Attending the Iowa City Council candidate forum last night was refreshing. The #1 issue with all the candidates and the audience was increasing the supply of affordable housing. When I talked about the need for affordable housing in Tipton, I was met with silence.

Gee. Seems Google AI is at the very least, avoiding topics that reflect poorly on Republicans. I asked how many people are getting kicked off Medicaid because of the Big Beautiful Bill. Someone had to specifically shut off AI overview for these keywords.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.

All the reports I found say they are not getting paid. A congressman introduced a bill a couple weeks ago to have ICE and border patrols get paid during a government shutdown. It doesn't appear to have gotten to the floor.

All the new ICE officers better be forced to work without pay during the shutdown, just like the military, air traffic controllers, VA staff, and other essential federal workers. ICE goons don't deserve special treatment.
