I think I'm pretty good at visualizing and constructing forms three-dimensionally. I also have nice proportions and I do really well at drawing anthro heads that clearly resemble the animal. I have a good eye for graphic design elements, I'm great at color theory, and I think my art name is fun.
Artists, I think we're all too comfortable sharing our imposter syndrome.

I would love to see you step out of your comfort zone and confidently state what you think you're actually really good at.

No self deprecation, just what you think you're the strongest at

Is anyone brave eniough? 👀

Take a moment to lower your blood pressure with this one.
This bobtail squid burrowing into the sand is already adorable, but please watch till the very end!

It sticks out its little arms and earnestly sprinkles sand over itself 🦑𓂃◌𓈒𓐍

Also, remember if you use 3D posable models (like in Clip Studio Paint), USE REFERENCE FOR YOUR POSES!!! One of the most impactful things you can learn in figure study is how gravity effects the body, and you want to keep that in mind when using these tools.

Trace photo/3D reference for practice. You'll learn so much from it. But don't do it for your final piece. Everyone can tell you did it, and if you don't understand how to convey foreshortening correctly it looks flat and warped. Practice fundamentals alongside this!

Add ambient lighting to your art. This weaker ever present light source affects perceived color of a subject and the shadows it casts. Just by including it, you can add a variety of colors to flat tones, better immerse characters into scenes, and get another option to convey mood in your piece.

Here is a video of a frozen creek that had begun to thaw, and the water was flowing beneath the thin ice on top. I took this because it was soothing and wonderfully bloopy and I wanted to listen to it for hours. You are all welcome to enjoy it, too. Let your brain settle here and rest for a moment.

In spirit of the year, I scrubbed my galleries for a honse, and this was the only one I could find. I haven't really fully drawn a horse in my 15 years of drawing, and I don't know what that says about me.

Creatives still need to continue making stuff & showing the world.

We provide a safe escapism for those who just, for a moment need some joy.

Keep creating. Keep sharing. We help bring light, hope & more to the world when it needs it.

We fight back the darkness that threatens to consume us.

Not even three days into the new year...
And here I thought things were starting to get better to some degree.

I'm just so fucking tired.

Art review 2025: 16 finished pieces. It doesn't sound like much, but I'm pretty happy with that output. The past three years I was suffering from heavy burnout and needed a mental health break so I was only able to finish 5 things in that long span. The Pandemic didn't help either tbf.

I really needed to read this today.
I was definitely at the point to where I was taking lack of engagement as a sign of rejection And overcompensating with unachievable perfectionism. It caused me to become hypercritical and nitpicky over my work, and It made drawing less fun.

This stops now.
As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

Hello there! I'm Kess!
I like to think of myself as an experimental artist as I'm always drawing things in different ways/ haven't found my preferred style yet, but I always put my all into my art. I like drawing anthropomorphic creatures mainly. Nice to meet ya!
