I could check off most of these for my latest depression comic I'm working on & I'm not even doing this on purpose
thinking about Nick Groom's suggested "seven types of obscurity" in Gothic novels, forming a handy "is it goth" checklist lmao

OMELAS CHILDREN fuck you autocorrect. I hate the whole world so much. the epstein girls are the OMELAS CHILDREN of the usa & the implication is their suffering is what made the stock market boom, in the cosmology of Pam, is the observation or non-joke I was trying to make

also should be said, I keep reiterating the 'start with something short' advice but am also secretly jealous of the long webcomic ppl who manage to accumulate a sort of micro-fandom for their OCs then get cancelled on discord over something really dumb. there's a sort of passion to it all

have become too good at typing my Long Password. like my dog who has figured out how to open doors & how to open the peanut butter jar; I cannot be protected from myself unfortunately

messy, mostly free-handed suit of discarded armor. idk if a giant meat mutant wearing this would count as a mech but in my heart it does. like an eva or a god warrior or something

might have a bit of a neuroticism going on re: the more I try to write things that fit a sort of conventional dramatic structure the further I move away from anything I've experienced irl & into drawing on other fiction as my main point of reference. & I guess this leads me to second guessing

this is such a hard thing to explain cause a lot of things that are Like This are technically good writing in the sense of being well-constructed narratives w clear character arcs etc & it seems like it's a thing where you either have a strong aversion to it or it barely registers as a problem
But when things being published are just handfuls of empty tropes, I feel like I'm not taking in someone's observed reality, but rather their third-hand account of something they heard once. It's like being on the very end of a game of telephone, and the message is dull, muffled, flat.

I've always loved both Lucky Luke and Astérix. With the original authors now gone, I find Lucky Luke's approach of getting a new creator and letting him loose much more interesting than Astérix's, which is to mimic the original look and feel as much as possible. Bonhomme is doing a phenomenal job.
i never really cared for lucky luke before but ever since Matthieu Bonhomme took over as the artist, i got REALLY into it, it's such a gorgeous comic

sorry I'm being sad in public again. idk. I keep hoping I'll be out of some sort of limbo 1ce I get the visa endorsement/rejection. I don't feel v excited to move to London. I've been through so many cycles of trying to Begin My Life For Real I don't have much energy left & I feel super old
