I don't think they're going to be too successful in Massachusetts. People are far too educated there.

It actually started in the 1970s when conservative and libertarian think tanks came into being. After 10 years of drafting an agenda to do this, they put ole ronnie puppet in office to carry out their first Mandate for Leadership. And oh did he.
100%!!! The wealth & income disparity started with cutting higher education funding and trickle down propaganda in the '80s & expanded with tax cuts in '01, '03 & '17 & near elimination of estate/inheritance taxes in '11.
This IS the GOP long game of re-establishing a WASP aristocracy.

I think we learned from what happened with the encampments what Chapel Hill really stands for these days. Sad but true.

I'm not very good at podcasts (listening to radio chatter has never been something I've enjoyed - I'd much rather read an article or, at the very least, a transcript) but... this podcast from Hotel Bar Sessions (and the podcast concept, gotta say) is VALID AF.
Newest episode of @hotelbarpodcast.bsky.social podcast just dropped and this week we're taking Cory Doctorow's concept of "enshittification" and applying it to things other than tech platforms, like American democracy, higher education, and criminal justice.

Nothing new, just the continuation of a 60+-years+long concerted effort to make higher ed a neoliberal tool for the workforce pipeline. Check out the URL in my bio for a timeline of how this took place (and feel free to send any suggestions I might have missed, this is a graduate project). #highered
"With college graduates increasingly voting for Democrats, the GOP fears universities and higher education."

The Trump regime is cutting financial aid and slowing programs to cancel student debt, which will lead to colleges enrolling fewer students of color and from low-income famlies.
Trump’s Anti-Affordability Agenda Has a New Target: College
University of Iowa sociology professor Louise Seamster says that the administration’s changes to financial aid policies are going to make our colleges less racially and economically diverse.

Things like this are intentional. Learn about ACTA and find out what it's doing on your campus - here's a great guide (if TLDR; scroll all the way to the end for instructions - but highly suggest you read this!)

The PA State System of Higher Education is presently in the process of killing viable self sufficient arts programs which teach transferable education skills such as critical thinking and creative problem finding/solving.

Who has the agenda?
From @jtchapman.bsky.social of Second Thought: PragerU is using AI to infiltrate state education departments. Their goal isn't teaching kids to think—it's teaching them to love "freedom" and "America" instead of math, science, or critical thinking. Great.

What part of TRUMAN do these idiots not understand??? They've spent decades attempting to tear down everything the President's Commission on Higher Education tried to set into place, and still want a piece of the damn pie. GTFO of here with that...

The "operational imperative to imbue the entire college experience with career-oriented skill development" is just the neoliberal agenda. It's sixty years of focus on turning higher ed into nothing more than a pipeline for the workforce.
This article about the disconnect between #college and careers references a white paper published by a #higher-ed #AI platform which points to an operational imperative to imbue the entire college experience with career-oriented skill development. www.highereddive.com/spons/higher...

Words matter. Language matters. Languages matter.

@spencerhazel.bsky.social on how universities cut their language degrees, AND stress the importance of language, AND use language poorly and offensively in communicating their decisions ("marketing-infused slop").

NOPE. But please, feel free to transfer to UNCG. We're commonly known as "UNC Gay" (and yes I realize not all trans people are gay, but I think you get the gist - we're holding out as a safe space).
Texas is home to a number of world class public universities. Texas politicians seem hell bend on destroying them. You can't have elite postsecondary institutions under a subnational authoritarian system. Period. #highered www.insidehighered.com/news/faculty...
