Don’t threaten me with a good time….

Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "

Every time Judaism becomes a national topic -- which seems to be every day -- it's like a free-for-all of gentiles confidently being publicly wrong about us.

I am celebrating the ceasefire & the release of hostages and Trump deserves credit but…I’m gonna need Israeli commentators not to tell Jewish Trump opponents in the US that “we have Trump all wrong”

No, we don’t. You see a slice of him, we see him whole. Appreciate your slice; don’t impose it on us

“The problem with billionaires isn’t that they’re hoarding money that would otherwise pay for a Scandinavian social utopia. It’s that their money has become a source of wildly distorted political power that allows a few men with extremist views to wreak havoc on the rest of us.”
Billionaires Are Hoarding Power, Not Money

It’s interesting because Witkoff and Ben Gvir each know what the other is talking about, while Kushner’s comment is completely off-point.

We have a acute 6th sense about that

This is a very “Mets fan” statement. :-)

This leaves aside the very obvious point that, from a Jewish perspective, the civilians in Gaza are most certainly owed the process of repentance from the Israeli government
dennisyedwab.bsky.social
Part of the Jewish process of repentance is that the wrong door or must seek it from the wrong. In Witkoff’s case, he argues that he got this. Ben-Gvir is arguing that Israel won’t get this from Hamas
dennisyedwab.bsky.social
It’s a fascinating exchange. It’s particularly interesting in light of the very recent Jewish high holidays and focus on the process of repentance.

I hold no brief for Ben-Gvir (he’s an evil racist), but he and Wicoff are arguing over a subtle point regarding granting forgiveness
dennisyedwab.bsky.social
I’d be up for reading that….

Agree with all of this. Among the many, many things we all have to help think through in the absence of the war.
dennisyedwab.bsky.social
Those hostage release ceremonies probably had the effect sustaining some support for the war among the Israeli public weeks longer than it otherwise would have.

Jews having power to decide our own communal fate has been problematic for the rest of the world for millennia
dennisyedwab.bsky.social
I’ll be more specific about this. This is the public hearing with the DOGE clowns that we need. The folks who think because they can code, that nothing else matters need to be held to account.

Also, his appearances in SNL and in Happy Gilmore 2 were hilarious.

Since I live in DC and do not have a Senator to call, please be my proxy and call yours.

keep calling and telling them to stand strong

the difference between last time (when they got yelled at incessantly for caving) and this time needs to be a chasm in terms of the feedback they're getting from constituents

we can get them to hold

Tina Smith says Democrats are digging in: “If anything, we’re feeling more strong.”

“I think we've tapped into something that's really important to Americans.”

It's the tricky thing about state politics. Marc Robinson was voted in as Lt. Governor before most people had any idea who he was aside from having an R by his name in NC. Then the press got to know him.

Oklahoma resident here. The thing is that almost anyone who was aware of this dude before he got elected hated him, very much including republicans. The problem is the vast majority of voters had no idea who he was when they went to the polls. They just showed up to make sure no D’s got elected

Good point. Completely agree

Not for nothing, but the passage of time makes clearer and clearer both Brady’s greatness and that he was the reason for the Pats run.

It is very telling that the answer from Bondi here is not "yes, I do, and nothing like that was ever found"

They know, and they're protecting a child rapist

WHITEHOUSE: Do you know if the FBI found photographs of Trump with half-naked young women in their search of Epstein's safe or premises?

BONDI: You're trying to slander President Trump when you're the one who was taking money from one of Epstein's closest confidants. I could be wrong. Correct me.

I was told not to teach a class on the intellectual histories of Zionism and Anti-Zionism next year - not because they doubted I could teach it fairly, but because it would attract too many politicians scrutinizing the syllabus.

A society where that is a valid fear is no longer fully democratic.
