Every time I see an article or a report about the impact of ending USAID, my heart breaks all over again.

It’s the thoughtless cruelty that sticks with me.

People now suffer and die from avoidable things. We had the supplies, we had the technologies.

What we lacked is will. We lacked care.

I am fascinated by the Cesium-137 contamination of foodstuffs coming from Indonesia.

Cesium-137 is a byproduct of fission or nuclear explosions, and Indonesia has had neither (there is no nuke power plant in the country).

How did it get into the food supply chain?
