Ready for the culinary guild end of year potluck and treat exchange... Homemade liquors for sampling and 60ml bottles for the exchange, and my wife's famous brown sugar cookies.

Not pictured, the french bread pizza with mushroom ragu that I'll bake right before we leave.

Don't remember the experience, but the consequences have stuck with me.

Batman (1989), with a girl I'd met a couple of days before who also wanted to see it but who (like me) didn't want to go alone.

And we were very clear - this was Not. A. Date.

We celebrate our 36th anniversary next summer.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

I get this when I travel... Travel is fun, but I hit a point where I want my own bed, my own coffee machine, and my familiar coffee mug.
“How exciting it is to travel.”

He thought, curling up in his hammock.

“How wonderful it is to be home.”

It was good to be in his own bed.

Would people think I was crazy if I said I was looking forward to Medalist almost as much as Frieren?

Don't care, it was surprisingly good. You should check it out.

Landslides, flooding, gales, heavy rains, all-in-all a fairly typical Puget Sound winter.

(We're under no warnings here, and sit pretty high up. Crossing fingers.)

Anime you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Streamline, Manga Ent., or Toonami.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel.

For anime, hard mode would be "no Ghibli or Shinkai", but that's not in the rules as written. So, I'm going take advantage of that loophole.

Why yes, yes I did have a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies for breakfast. Why shouldn’t I?

Well freakin' deserved. An amazing film.

The "Blue Marble", still one of the most amazing and evocative photographs ever taken.
Today in 1972, as Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan, Harrison “Jack” Schmitt, and Ron Evans were rocketing toward the Moon, one of them looked back and took this iconic photograph, the first to capture a fully-illuminated round Earth and the only one taken by a human being.

Everything I need to do today at some point seems to involve making a mess in or cleaning up the kitchen.

I may have gone a bit overboard experimenting with liqueurs for the culinary guild holiday party…. From left to right, ginger, coffee, chocolate, and orange.

True, but also somber and disturbing. Because those grandmas were my grandmas, my older aunts, etc...
It’s weird to think that the entire generation of grandmas who would get those curly, helmet–like perms like a Estelle from Golden Girls have almost entirely departed this mortal plane by now. Much like a floppy disk icon, the iconography has outlived what it represented.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I am in trouble. Wonderful, echoing, melodious trouble... But trouble nonetheless.

Absolute truth!

Who else could do this in *one continuous take*?

Making the base for ice cream for my birthday tomorrow. Slight tweaks to the recipe, but staying mindful of Savage’s Law - “If you don’t write it down, you’re just screwing around.”

Honestly, the best episode of the series...
Today we're continuing our rock festival through the weekend, as Lilisa and Otoha share their first live performance alongside a poor, unsuspecting orchestral group. Let's return to the battleground of Rock is a Lady's Modesty!
