South Korea announced it's going to phase out coal-fired power by 2040, a massive win for the climate.🌏

But you might not know that a few local climate groups in Australia played a part in making this happen!🌱

I’m here to remind folks that we live next to a star — a huge nuclear fusion factory of plasma and radiation — and proximity gives us an opportunity to study a star!

We often take it for granted as “the Sun in the sky” and consider stars just points of light — but we have one right next door too!
Physics in action: a truly mesmerising #SolarFlare on the Sun last night, from the same region that produced strong flares and triggered widespread aurora back in mid-November. The flare gives a hypnotic example of how plasma and magnetic fields interact in the Sun’s atmosphere.

This year I'll also resurrect the #Crustmas skeets from when I had a plan 2 years ago lol

But seriously after today it mostly won't be decapods from me! 🦑🧪
Starting off #Crustmas with a bunch of Rhynchocinetes durbanensis shrimps, which have a seasonal color scheme (but not the same family as "peppermint shrimp")

She’s brought Women Who Ruled the World: 5000 Years of Female Monarchy to help pass the time until Boxing Day. Great choice &available in all good booksellers 😉#womenwhoruledtheworld
