The Game Awards is extremely consumer-facing and therefore doomed to be at odds with its stated purpose of recognizing and honoring the creators of games in an awards show for them. As such it is never not funny

wrt the last retweet: while i'm obviously coming from a place of all my art being available for free because i believe myself to be too much of an amateur to charge money, i still wish i could try making a living from making said art because i love doing it and would like to do more of it

If we can only have art from people who "aren't in it for the money" that means we can only have art from privileged middle-class dilettantes. Making art being a viable career is responsible for nearly all worthwhile art, and if it's not a viable career any more we will get drastically less of it.

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

Our upcoming game HORSES was preemptively banned from Steam, with no path to appeal. The game will still launch next week on December 2nd and will be available on EGS, GOG, Humble, and Itch for $4.99. Here is a detailed FAQ covering what happened: horses.wtf/BannedFromSt...

i removed my music from Spotify back at the end of 2023 because of this and i regret nothing
The most basic argument I can give you for ditching Spotify for *anything* is Spotify, uniquely, pays *nothing* for much of the music on the platform. Is there *any* improvement in paying for Spotify over pirating? You're a paper-thin moral slice away from buying music from a bootlegger. Why do it?
Confirmed: From 2024, tracks on Spotify will have to be played 1,000 times before they start earning money
Spotify has told industry players that it expects the new 1,000-play minimum annual threshold will reallocate tens of millions of dollars per year from 0.5% of its current royalty pool to the other 99...

just cause i know the history of the band i went and looked up NIN on there and
- the article is *so bloated*
- it doesn't mention Atticus Ross officially becoming a member in 2016
- the tour history table ends in 2008
- no discography section???
- it features alt text for images that aren't there

My opinion on video game pricing is that every video game that costs less than $30 should cost $10 more and every video game that costs more than $40 should cost $10 less.

the overwhelming anglocentrism of large parts of the internet and the media landscape in film/tv/popular music etc. is a detriment to people's education on the world and international worldviews/histories and should be viewed critically *especially* during the current rise of fascism in the US
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

just a reminder that bandcamp friday is tomorrow & streaming services are interrupting music streams with ai generated shit, flooding the database with artists that don't exist in any way other than profiting the platform owners

so instead of paying a monthly fee, buy an album or two each month ok

the first time i was exposed to David Lynch was when i was channel surfing and happened to just tune into arte right when they started airing Mulholland Drive immediately followed by Lost Highway, it sure was one hell of a 4 hours to go in mostly unprepared
Streaming has let us control what we watch and when we watch it but the fact that young people nowadays will never channel surf and find Godzilla vs Monster Zero at 1 AM is a tangible loss to the human experience.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?
