This is why I stopped fuckin with Ol Berndog Sanders. He has such a hard time connecting these that at this point I roll my eyes when a clip of him still pops up.
I can't stand when people say "it's not about race, it's about class!" What planet are you living on, where those are not nested subjects? Especially when we're talking about immigration, come on

Basically told this history as an oral Mac n cheese recipe at one of our storytelling events this year. This article just barely scratches at the darkness of Jefferson's relationship with Hemings (who died by suicide at age 36).
“After five years in Paris, Hemings brought his new skills back to the US and served as Jefferson's head chef at Monticello, as well as in New York and Philadelphia, until he was able to negotiate his own freedom in 1796.”

The enslaved man who popularised mac and cheese
The baked dish is one of the US's most popular foods, but its rise can likely be traced back to an enslaved Black chef who worked for Thomas Jefferson.

These Spotify wrapped things are the data surveillance state version of believing "the stripper likes me!" Lolol your listening age? Cmon man. Anyways I hate them more and more every year.
When everyone was sharing Spotify wrapped, I thunk to myself how much I missed music blogs, & thoughtful recommendations by lovers of music, not just data recaps. Thankfully, @listeninghabit.bsky.social still has one. A Saturday inbox blessing, each week.

not sure how many actual futbol fans follow me or are even on here, but if you have Gol TV, Nino Torres is by far the most entertaining english language futbol commentator there is. watching a Liga Portugal Big 3 match, & so excited he's on commentary lol.

this award is (rightfully) getting rundown, but I'm at least thankful they honored a great moment, The Hand of God, in the trophy's styling

"All is lost" narratives are popular because people generally do not want to take action. Taking action is tiring so if all is lost, you are off the hook. Nothing is more seductive than not having to do anything.

reading about Matty Rich's Straight Out of Brooklyn taking on Carlos Colon, & wishing I could see it
it is funny how streaming is so much like 1980s territory pro wrestling though. like you can never see all the shit you want, ever. and a lot of good shit is just awol completely (wrestling in Puerto Rico).

I find it very hilarious how Dan Bongino looks like a repressed homosexual man's penis sticking thru the rest stop bathroom gloryhole, just hoping to get sucked but feeling horrible about it

as you all seem to be strangely concerned with who "owns" streaming media again, I'd like to remind you that we should return to digital file piracy & that "intellectual property" is haram thinking

if you looking for bandcamp friday suggestions, I'll tell you two of my favorite labels for vibes (I usually get physical 45s) are:
MoFunk Records - California g-funk grooves
Star Creature Universal Vibrations - boogie funk out of Chicago
