I’d presumed you’d posted this, @bhaalspawn.bsky.social on your continuing mission to make us all feel Very Old Indeed.
Next year the PlayStation 3 will be older than the NES was when the PS3 launched.

Getting the CD mechanism free was rather more interesting than I’d have preferred, but here it is!

Should have a replacement arriving any minute now…

New (broken) toy! Got it for a tenner. Will fix it and make good use of it. Been lacking a non-computer way of playing audio CDs for years.

Knowing this government, the cap will be A GAJILLION POUNDS.

And they’ll proudly say, “see, we did something! WHY DON’T YOU LIKE US?!”
The government will announce a cap on ground rents paid by leaseholders in England and Wales on Tuesday morning.

Labour's 2024 election manifesto promised to "tackle unregulated and unaffordable ground rent charges"👏

Cap for ground rent in England and Wales due to be announced
The government has not confirmed what the cap will be, but campaigners have said they believe £250 a year is likely.

3D printer pro-tip: don’t be afraid to just replace the damn hotend.

My Bambu P1S just churns out mostly-perfect prints over and over again. Whether it starts struggling, I just throw on a new hotend. They cost less than a reel of filament and it only takes a few minutes.

Watching a video about the creation of the PlayStation 1 startup sound (no, *you’re* a nerd!)

Imagining what thought Atari put into the Jaguar startup.

“It’s a JAGUAR! So it ROARS! Then it goes beepity-beep-beep! And there’s a JAGUAR picture on a SPINNY CUBE. Because ROOOAAARRR!”

Me (and many, many others): “We informed you thusly.”

Further evidence that there’s an entire layer — a putrid film, if you will — of people whose day-to-day experiences prevent them from understanding how normal people behave and how the normal world works.

Since Dec 15th, I’ve been not-ill for a single week.

There are horrible lurgees around and apparently I had to catch ‘em all.

Anyway. I think I’m on the tail-end of the current bout. Had crushing sinus pain this morning, but you know what’s helped?

A very, very strong coffee. Bless you, caffeine.
